Edit Blog Post

For those of you who read our last blog, (all zero of you, many thanks) you will, we hope, have noticed that they are getting shorter and shorter. This was not a conscious decision on our part, it just happened, so live with it. Anyway, it gives you more time to admire our great photography.

The caravan park at Rockingham was not the best in the world, but the showers were hot and that’s good enough for us. From here we visited (by bus) Fremantle, which is a great place. The Fremantle Gaol is well worth a visit. There are several different tours, we did the “Doing Time” tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. This was followed by a stroll through the Fremantle Markets to the very busy cappuccino mall, and then on to the jetty with a stop at the “Little Creatures” brewery, our favourite was the Indian Pale Ale. The rest of the afternoon was spent admiring the buildings with a visit to the E-Shed Markets (very quiet and a little disappointing) before finding a very nice Italian Restaurant so Debby could get a fix of spaghetti, washed down with a nice drop of the red stuff. All in all a good day out.

Rockingham itself is a very nice town with a great beach, which seems to be the theme in this part of WA, and again we had a very pleasant day exploring the area.

OH! Just got a flashback! Mandurah was also a day visit. The weather was not the kindest on the day but you soon got the feeling that this is a town of wealth and very liveable. A big bag of chips with our picnic lunch helped lift our spirits.

Oh dear- how did that happen? Whilst writing this blog and wondering why no-one had read the last two, Debby discovered it was because they had not been published! Seems the blog site had a glitch, all sorted now we hope!

Bunbury was a little too far from Rockingham for a day trip, so it was hitch up and away. What a great caravan park and site! The very busy Busselton Highway runs adjacent to the park and our next door campers only have 7 children, all very well behaved mind you, but not so the parents! What to do in Bunbury? Climb the Rotary Tower at Marlston Hill for a great view; stroll though the lively town centre, stop for a cuppa and spot a Thai Restaurant for Sunday tea; take a leisurely Sunday morning stroll round the Big Swamp; spend the afternoon sun-bathing on the beach, nude if the fancy takes you; spend $31 at “The Good Guys” on a skillet (best $31 spent so far); move on to Margaret River to catch up on 2 nights lost sleep. Bunbury was great, the caravan park not so.

The whole of our nest blog will be dedicated to Margaret River. It will be complex and dry, because that’s how we like our wine………..
