Apologies for leaving you folks hanging back there. After a while there starts to be a little much travelling for it all to fit it all into the blogging time you have, hence the rushed entries.

Anyway, during the rest of my time in Queenstown I

- went to Race To The Sky, a rally event up a mountain (turns out watching lots of cars go by is not my thing, but I'm here to try new stuff, remember?)

- went round on a fast (jet)boat through a canyon and a slow (steam)boat over a lake. The fast boat was exciting but the ride was too short and the slow boat was nice and scenic with engine room access (if you like hot rooms with pipes and coal) but a little dull and full of old people singing Waltzing Matilda and Roll Out The Barrel around a piano. It really was like stepping back in time.

- took a gondola up to the top of a hill and let this thing that they called a 'Luge' (more like a gravity powered kart than the gravity powered tray on wheels that I'd think of if someone said 'luge')

The highlight of my bus trip from Qtown to Christchurch
part of the way down a couple of times. It was fun in a brief kind of way.

- wimped out of jumping off a bridge or ledge or something, just like everyobody said I would. I promise that it'll get done eventually, though*.

- discovered that during midday in shoulder season there are more Japanese people in Fjordland national park than, say, the city of Okayama. And for good reason: it is very nice, though rainy. Mind you, the rain is half the point, since it results in loads of waterfalls in Milford Sound. I saw lots of seals.

- ate lots of food.

- did more off-road driving, this time in a canyon road to a different old gold mining town.

Alas, i decided it was time that I left this marvellous place and went off by myself to sample the delights of the Nort Island for a while. Hence, after a couple of long bus journeys (9 hours from Qtown to Christchurch), an overnight stay with my uncle and a journey on boat between the two islands (including a marvellous journey through the Malborough sounds) I'm in Wellington and all is cool. I don't know what I'm going to do in North Island, but I've got two weeks to burn, so let's see how it goes, eh?

Farewell for now!

*Not necessarily a valid promise.

P.S. I tacked some 'best of' pictures for this latest batch on here. It certainly isn't my finest batch, probably because my camera screen broke again. Grr!
