Camel trek. Done.
Sleeping in the sand dunes. Done.
Mat waking me up (whilst in the desert) at 4am, screaming. Done.

Quick side notes and then I will explain all! After we last blogged in Jodhpur (where we are back again tonight) we went out for a beautiful meal at a restaurant called Indique, we were five storeys high and surrounding us was the fort, the clock tower and a lake. During our meal, the streets below broke out in song and dance (we had wondered why there were so many women and children out and about.) It was to celebrate the God Ganesha and it was a truly mesmorising scene. We didn't have the camera with us so we can't share it with you all when we upload our pictures but this makes that moment quite special for Mat and I, something we will never forget.

Anywho, back to the desert tale. To begin, the camel trek. So, if any of you girlies are to endure a camel trek firstly, be prepared to ache for the following two days, and secondly, wear a sports bra. I didn't know whether to cling to my boobs or the camel!! We watched our first sunset whilst sat on the sand dunes with a beer. A-mazing! Post trek, we returned to our base (cute little thatched roofed huts.) Here we were fed numerous Indian dishes and entertained by Indian musicians and a female dancer. It was lots of fun! The night got even better for Mat when our driver came over to sit with us armed with a bottle of Indian whisky and Indian rum. Side note: He also went out of his way to cook us a mutton curry, even though food was provided, he's becoming like a father figure. Anyway, back to the alcohol (of which we've seen very little since our arrival) and Mat proceeding to get a little drunk. Just at the pinnacle point of intoxication we found out that everyone else in our group (there were about 10 of us) were sleeping among the stars out in the sand dunes.

In a complete reversal of personalities, Mat was trying to persuade me to sleep out in the desert. My instincts were telling me so stay in the hut avec bed, air con and clean washing facilities. Mat, slightly drunk, was not happy with this decision.

So, after a little persuasion the decision was made - off we went to the desert, towed by a camel sat on our bedding with a glass of rum in hand. I, true to my word, can sleep ANYWHERE! I still got my eight hours beauty sleep. Mat, on the other hand (once the rum had worn off) absolutely shat himself. Not a wink of sleep until the sun came up and he knew he was safe. At 4am (please bare in mind Mat had woken me up every hour until this point) I awoke to him screaming. There was something, some kind of creature, that had lept onto Mat's chest. Any guesses? It was a frog!!! I have never laughed so hard and i'm laughing whilst I write this! As is he, so don't feel too sorry for him. At this point I promised to stay awake until sunrise. I was asleep within 15 minutes after, may I add, I had removed the frog. However, Mat did get to witness shooting stars which he says was incredible.

His first words when we awoke: "Deserts. Don't f#*king sleep in them!"

Today, and back in Jodhpur, which is very famous for it's spices, we met a lovely guy called Abdul. We've been, or I've been, on a bit of a spending spree, so we thought what the hell let's pick up some of these infamous spices. Abdul was lovely, letting us try all his herbal teas of which we bought vanilla and mint, Mum I picked you up a vanilla tea because I know you've been looking for a good one - it smells incredible. Abdul also helped me buy a sari scarf and made sure I paid Indian rates for it. He also directed us to an art school where an artist (who has exhibitions at V&A and the British Museum and in 2011 the Tate) painted Mat an elephant (good luck symbol) and me a peacock (symbol of beauty) on a lentil cut in half. Each lentil is half the size of my little finger nail. It's unreal! Abdul also let us taste black salt which tasted of boiled egg! We have met so many very friendly people here, we feel privileged.

Oh, to Mat's brother and any others (friends and family) please download Skype. Every internet cafe had it installed and I had some amazing conversations with my family yesterday. Phil, we were thinking one night when you, your dad, Neej and Linda are together we could get a Skype date going on. Mat is sure you have a web cam on your laptop, if not, go to your Dad's and pick up Mat's - it's under his bed. My Skype name is Ambertc.

Side note: the cows here tonight are pretty bloody angry. We just had one ram us off the road and one single me out and rammed his (it must of been male) horn into my chest. Ouch!!

Final thing, I just want to say a huge hello to the NYR gang!! I meant to mention you lot in the last blog. Thank you so much for the text you sent in the first couple of days we were here. Things like that kept us going! I hope you are all well and business is fab.

Mat's shout out.. Big up to MMC - Special mention to T Town and Gennaro (keep the Gervais chat going), Pizzle (on his honeymoon with the wizzle), and my main mayne D Lar!! Miss you all xx

Next stop: Ranakpur (the jungle) and our final destination in Rajasthan, Udaipur.

Lots of loving
xxxxxx
