Cairns Camp
Beautiful park this one Well after 3 days straight on the number one Highway I have finally made it !!!!!! the drive up was an interesting one, coming in to Sydney past Kiama I thought I was going to get blown off the road. Then coming through Sydney, What a joke of a place. I will be taking a BIGGGG detour on the way back down just so I don't have to go through that hell hole again.
One thing I must say about NSW though is that once you get pas Newcastle the Roadside rest areas are Awesome. Very clean and nice toilets that are well maintained and lots of space. One night there was at least 30 caravans already parked up by the time I pulled in at 830!!
The Troopy is an awesome car to travel in, so comfortable to tour in and just plods along at 95klm/hr nicely. Love having the UHF also. Anytime a truck gets up behind me I just call them up and let them know i will put on the brakes if they step out to get around. They are all pretty appreciative and pretty funny bunch on the roads.

Bermagui
Went to Bermagui but it was miserable. The only half decent shot I got of the Troopy is surprisingly comfortable. The first morning I woke up and took a few minutes to figure out where I was LOL. The only hassle is getting up into the Bed. At 6"2' it hard work !!!! I dont know how I am going to do it up at the Cape now as it is like a Sauna in there in this humidity so am thinking I might get one of those cheap 2 man tents from Kmart and not put the top cover on it so it is nicely vented.
I have lobbed in to the BIG 4 caravan park chain in Cairns now. I have to say after staying at the one in Merimbula they are all awesome places and really reasonably priced. Merimbula I paid under 25 per night and up here I have paid 210 for 6 nights and this one here is like a resort. And you get free wifi so am sitting in the shade of my tent surrounded by palm tree;s writing this.
Another surprise has been Cairns itself. I pictured a smaller town surrounded by rain forrest but it is a massive place and mega touristy down by
On the way up
When it rains you have to make do!! Good old Ready Workforce Umbrella. This was a lunch Break stop I took. the beach. Think I may have a look a bit further North for places to possibly settle!!
So I will be here for the next 6 nights and will then head up to cape york for about a month. The guy next to me gave me a hand setting up and had just come back from the cape. Reassured me my 4wd will be much more than enough for 95% of the tracks so thats pretty reassuring. He is going to sit down and go through the map with me too which is good. People are so nice on the road!!! Anyhow until next time I have to go have a swim in the pool :-)
PS. I will add a few pics tonight. Its too hot already LOL ( its 29 at the moment )
