Bodensee

Still no pictures, maybe tomorrow. Lake Constance or the Bodensee as they say here was our main destination today. We traveled by train to a Swiss town whose name escapes me tonight and walked into Germany to Kanstance (which is where we get the name). This is a beautiful town on the shore of the Bodensee with only bikes and pedestrians on the streets of the old city. After lunch on the shore of the lake in a former cloister (the monks had a great view) we took a boat to the Isle of Mainau. This has been the home of the Swiss monarchs since the 1500's complete with a castle. (I think I have gone to heaven.) The gardens, however are why you visit Mainau. Flower, trees and every sort of plant from the all over the world; the dahlia exhibit had over 300 varieties, WOW and thousands of roses. Best of all were all the birds which neither Gary nor I had ever seen; we must find a bird book tomorrow.

The jet lag is a little better today. We have been promised by our friends that the worst is behind us.

I'm hoping this message reaches you in the sense that I don't know if I am entering the text in the correct spot. We will certainly find out right? That being said, I will keep it short. It sounds like you guys are having fun. I hope you will take lots of pictures and bring back interesting things besides jet lag and an ambition to speak french to me for weeks to come. Hi from T-Town
So great to see these updates! I didn't know we would be so lucky to have a bona fide trip blog to keep us all abreast of your activities. Walt and Steph arrived around noon, and we are all headed off to the splash park in a few minutes. We'll grill out tonight and enjoy the perfect weather on the porch. Love to you from Tulsa!
