We left the dock!

At 9:25AM on Monday, August 16th we cast off the dock lines and headed for the Erie Canal! It was a great start as we had a beautiful day with clear skies (after the early AM storm). We know that there has been quite a dry spell of information on the blog but we have been kept very busy with numerous activities that we will later fill you in on. We have just finished the 2nd day in the Erie Canal and stopped tonight in Ilion NY as we now have a wi-fi connection to catch up on lots of business so wanted to just post a quick note to let everyone know that we have started our journey! Will follow up with another entry in the near future to catch you up on what has happened since the last one. Will be having a chance to visit with family and friends the next couple of days as we continue our travels east toward the Hudson River. Stay tuned for more entries and photos!

I looked for you
I looked for you folks on my way back from New England as the Thruway went along side the canal. I don't know what I'd have done if I saw you because I'm pretty sure they frown on people coming to a screeching stop in thruway traffic so they can jump out and wave to friends.

Hi Janice, I wanted to apologize for not making it to the "open boat." I ended up having a family reunion that day in Madison, NY and didn't make it back into town until 9PM that night. I mostly wanted to give you a hug as it is likely to be some time before we see each other again and wish you safe travels. I look forward to the blog updates and hope that some day our paths can cross again. Take care and have the time of your lives!!!!

So sorry we missed your party. We thought we might make it and now I can't remember why we didn't. I think we were out and didn't make it back to Sackets on that Sunday.
