France rocketed up my list of favorite countries today (or it least it would have if I had such a list). For those of you who weren't aware it is culturally acceptable to use the restroom on a side road. Of course given that it is dark and that you do it with some decency, but apparently no one cares. Anyway that was the highlight of my French cultural experience.

We've been a bit behind in blogging bc of the lack of free internet, but hopefully I can bringyou up to date. Yesterday, tuesday, Jody and I found out that almost every site we wanted to see is closed on Tues. in Paris. We started out by going to the catacombs, but they were flooded (and still were today). Then we tried to find the Bastille, but apparently that was torn apart during the French revolution (whoops on that, but we saw where it used to stand at least). We then went to a museum of modern art, but alas it was also closed. The day turned out great though once we met up with some friends of Jody's father, Mike and Linda Mewshaw. We hung out at their apartment

We just happened to run into Adam and a group of UT study abroad students in the neighborhood. Small world
and watched some Roland Garros then they took us to dinner. It was a lot of fun and then Jody and I headed to the Monmartre districtandran into Adam and his group. We took some pictures of Moulin Rouge then called it a night.

Today we visited the Pantheon and did some souvenir shopping. We came out to Sceaux this afternoon to stay with jody'suncle Jean Jacques. He took us on a personally guided tour of the town and through the picturesque city park. It was massive in size and so well manicured. Jean then cooked for us and now we're off to bed and are ready to head off to Zurich tomorrow afternoon.

i have a story to tell you about using the restroom in nature that involves my dad as a new immigrant to the US from Switzerland also thinking it is ok to use the restroom on a side road and a South Carolina (most likely Southern Baptist) police man.
