Ok! So Machu Picchu is amazing!!!! I couldn't believe that I was there the whole time. I felt like i was looking at pictures again because it looks exactly the same as it does in pictures as it does in real life. The only difference is that you can actually touch the walls that the Incans built and walk on the same paths that Incans built and used. That feeling is just surreal. We arrived in Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu pueblo, on Saturday about noon and spent some time walking around the town. It is a very cool town. There is one main street that all the other streets and alleyways branch off from. The only problem is that everything is very touristic and very expensive. We went to the Aguas Calientes that night before dinner. They were not what any of us expected. They were giant pools about 3 feet deep with rocks in the bottom and warm water. They were still fun with the whole group though. After that we went back to our hotel and showered and went down the main street for dinner. The next morning we left Aguas Calientes by bus to head to Machu Picchu at 9 AM. When we got to Machu Picchu we met our guide Darwin. He was very knowledgeable about Machu Picchu and has written 5 books about it already. After the tour of the main parts of Machu Picchu a group of us walked a seperate part of the Inca trail to go to the Incan Bridge. It was really scary in some parts because the path was only about 3-3 1/2 feet wide and there was no barrier, just a drop down about 8,000 feet. So most of us were hugging the wall on the other side of the path. After that we just sat on a hillside and looked over Machu Picchu. We left Machu Picchu about an hour later and headed back to Aguas Calientes in the bus to get a quick dinner before heading back to Cusco. Over all the weekend was so much fun and on of the prettiest places I have ever seen. Everywhere you looked there were taller and taller mountains. Some of the mountains were even high than the clouds and you could not see the tops of them. Now it's back to the school week and Sacred Valley
