Really, we only spent around 7 hours overnight in Aqaba, so this post is less to tell you about Aqaba (a port town in southern Jordan) and more to tell you about the "adventure" of travelling just 70km over the course of 10 hours!

We hopped on a bus to a small village (and port town in Egypt) called Nuweiba. From here we were to catch a ferry from Egypt into Jordan. We cleared customs, and were shuttled into a "holding area" filled with hundreds of people (locals and tourists)waiting to catch the ferry to Aqaba, Jordan.

We were initially told the ferry was supposed to leave around 2:30pm, so we got there around noon which should leave us ample time... but the ferry was rather late (by around 5 hours) and we didn't get on the water until 7:30pm or so. We had to give them our passports on the boat, and hope they magically
appear once we reach Jordan! Fortunately, after more waiting, we received our entry visas and made way for Aqaba town with an American couple who are studying Arabic in Amman... 10 hours, 70kms, no worries when you´re in the Middle East!
