Saturday arrived and we sorted ourselves out for a trip down towards the south of Adelaide.

We went to Normanville Yankelle and Cape Jervis. From there we had a great view of Kangaroo Island.

After a look round we drove to Granite Island. You can’t drive there but there is a walkway across. An alternative is the horse driven tram but the one horse power looked a little heavy and so we enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine and walked across. The island is famous for penguins but they were as noticeable as the dingoes in Cleland Wildlife Park yesterday. The place was full of day trippers enjoying the Easter sun and families at the little fair nearby. It got to about 19 degrees today which was pleasantly warm but very cold according to the Aussies.

There were a few brief excursions en route via a couple of Ambulance stations so Brian could show us the roller shutter doors he specialises in repairing and maintaining. After a look at another roller door shutter Brian was banned from showing us any more roller doors which when all things considered have a limited interest.

We then went to have a parsty at Port Elliott which is famous apparently for its parsties. There are the same as a pastie but pronounced in different way.

There followed a drive around a very expensive part of South Australia Hindmarsh Island. There we saw a load of expensive properties which had their own jetty on to the water.

We then saw where the River Murray joins the Southern Ocean and the great big barrier that separates the two.

A magnum ice cream was required to get over this stupendous sight so a stop off for a relax was necessary.

Time was marching on so we drove back to Adelaide and on the way Brian spotted a wild kangaroo in the distance. Fortunately he has a good quality camera so was able to get a picture which proved it was a kangaroo with a joey.

We steered our way home for a fish and chip supper and prepared to put our clocks back 1 hour as it was going into daylight saving.
