Arrived in Christchurch after tearing myself away from Queenstown!! not lot happening in the city so booked a bus north- 2 and a half hour journey to Kaikoura. Home for Whale watching, dolphin and seal swimming AND fishing!!!! whoop!! i booked myself on the trip and had a wicked day!!! I actually caught a few fish!! cant remember the name though, but they were orange!! The fisherman was a legend and would gut all the fish still alive as soon as we caught them! i got splattered with fish blood haha he cut it up and fed it to the birds! we then went to collect the crayfish pots which were full YUM. one of them had a shark!! inside (a mini one ) but still!!! the old guy said he had a great photo idea and told us to put it round our necks with the advice.. 'dont let it bite' you whaaaaat!! it smelt of carpet and felt like sandpaper and i hope thats the last time i ever get that close to a shark!! we headed back stopping off to see seals 😊 we then went to the guys house- transorted in the boat on the back of a tractor (only in nz) we then we told to have a cup of tea while he cooked the crayfish. and then started on the white wine!! we chated with the local fisher men and heard some great stories!! the day before one of them had a two metre shark which was destroying his equiiptment, so to save it he threw the shark onto his boat whilst he untangled it.. nutter!! the other group arrived and the guy got out a 1998 home made bottle of whisky! he was such a kind guest and sent us back to hostel with crayfish and bags of the other fish we caught! amazing day!! we ate the crayfish which we had so so so much off!!! and its so expensive here! i was the one in charge of cutting them and ripping them open! people couldnt believe i was just crunching the legs with my teeth- thats thanks to Maribel! Me and another girl then cooked up all the fish and made some mash! so much food I can not handle fish for a while, especially people i couldnt wash it off my hands :S great day :D
