CESKY KRUMLOV Day 48

First things first, I went straight to the castle. Unfortunately, the inner sections of the castle, the exhibits, and the theatre are closed from October to April. But you can still walk around the castle grounds which are beautiful on their own. The building is all painted in the baroque fashion. It is really lovely and this feature will be added to my wonder house. I am really disappointed that the theatre is closed because it is a baroque theatre so it would have been really interesting to see a show in the old stage fashion. I guess I will just need to come back.

From the castle you can look down on the city that curves along the river. It would be truly beautiful in the spring and summer months. It is still lovely in the winter but with the trees and gardens in full bloom it would be exquisite. I left the beautiful castle to walk around the small streets. The streets, much like the castle, has painted baroque buildings as well. On one restaurant window there was a funny sign with a child and the devil dressed up as traditional Czech food. In the many jewellery shops in this small town I was seeing a pretty green stone called Moldavite. Apparently, it is a rare stone that seems to only be found in Czech and some surrounding areas. It is uncertain on where the stone came from and believed that it may have come from a meteorite that landed in the region thousands of years ago. Either way it is very pretty and unique to Czech. Also, the supply is limited and there are only 4 mines left in Czech and it is believed that they will run out in the next 50 years. So here comes another souvenir. I found a really pretty pendant that is shaped like a Lilly and has both the moldavite and garnet. After my purchase I headed back towards the train station to move on to Austria.

The train ride through Czech was full of deer and bunnies. The train runs through the forests with random stops that literally leave you in the middle of no where. And on the way I saw loads of deer and rabbits. Once in Austria there were still lots of bunnies but also pheasants as well.
