toilet paper, facial tissue and chocolate
All gifts from our school this week, after they told us the school doesn't really care about the foreign teachers(everyone at school got these gifts) Sunday-was a pretty lazy day as we had no plans since A+ can no longer have foreign teachers teach any classes, per the police as of last Thursday. So we laid around and hung out all day. For dinner I went over to a Senior 2 teacher's mom's house for dinner then met her Junior 3=9th grade in USA son so I can start to tutor him. Lily, Senior 2 Biology teacher, surprised me at 7:30 when the 1 hr lesson was over that her and I would be going to the spa to get a facial. SWEET!!!
Once we arrived she informed me it would be a 2 hr treatment: steam sauna, back/arm/neck/head massage then a facial. It had been a few years since I had a facial. I hadn't had a massage in so long and badly needed it as the masseuse told Lily I should come more often that my back was very tight. You don't have to tell me twice.
It was such a nice treat as Lily told me it was a membership only place. She gets 48 sessions a year, but didn't disclose the price. It is on the 2nd floor of where I go to get my xitou(hair wash & head massage) for one hour 20 kuai=about $3.
Monday- I continued to download music for our reception as downloading is free on Google China. We also started our workout regimen at a nearby gym, nothing like 24 Hr Fitness but it works.
Tuesday-Day 2 of working out. Pete was a Groomzilla, yes I called it Groomzilla moment. But he is over it now(Thursday) Started to look for jobs for next school year. I received a pink rose and a box of chocolates for International Women's Day that occurred on Monday.
Wednesday-Pete has no classes and I teach only 1 class at 11am. We then bought Matt's, another foreign teacher in Longgang, bike for 100 kuai as he doesn't really use it and wanted the money. YES this is bike #3 for me. Then we worked on the order of the ceremony along with all the music, readings, everything except our vows as we are writing our own, reception 1st dance, dance with parents, etc.
Thursday-I taught 4 classes and Pete taught 3. We received our semester supply of facial tissue and toilet paper from the school. He hasn't had a lesson with Celery, language exchange partner, this weeks since Catherine has something up her a*%. Our 1st week back we requested the school request us back for a 2nd year but they are basically saying they can't and the school doesn't really care about foreign teachers is what they told us. NICE!!!
This weekend our plans have changed as our friends Kris & Kelly were going to come to Longgang for the first time but Kris is sick. Now we are thinking of going to Hong Kong to check out some tourist sites we haven't been to yet, getting the Bucket List checked off.
