The week is passing by so quickly. I can't believe tomorrow is Thursday. Tonight we have planned a girls night as on Monday it was International Women's Day here- which I might add, was a public holiday (umm don't you think we should consider this at home???) It also happens to be Cheneat's (a Khmer girl who lives downstairs) birthday today so there is another reason to celebrate. We are having nachos and salad for dinner and I have made that condensed milk, cream and biscuit slice that you put in the freezer to form an icecream slice, in lieu of a birthday cake. My mouth is watering already. Then we plan to scrub, paint, polish, exfoliate etc. Abi, Cazz and I think this will be a new experience for most of the Khmer staff. They seem to be so innocent, it is beautiful really.

Last night I had the humorous pleasure of attending aerobics class at Olympic Stadium. I went along with Phillipe and Anges who go every Tuesday night. During the 'warm up' I was in fits of giggles as the moves were just so strange to me. For instance, one move consisted of a ''spearing the sky''

type action and another was like wringed clothes out at hip height. We bounced around to the Venga Boys and other hideous tunes and no one but the instructor worried about sticking to the beat. The cost was 25 cents or 1000 R and for my money I got very good value. My face was bright red and my clothes drenched in sweat after only one hour. The class goes non stop for 2 hours- no water breaks, but you just finish when ever you like. I thought my muscles would struggle today but my walking, stair climbing (they're everywhere) and swimming (yes I find myself demonstrating techniques such as breaststroke, overarm and diving on a daily basis) might just be paying off.

What week is it at school? Maybe 6 or 7? End of term must be looming and i'm sure some of you will be bust starting Term 1 reports. At least they are easy. I think of you often during my day, especially now that I am teaching children familiar to the age group i taught at home. Today we covered antonyms and it was just like several lessons I have taught previously. It made me

smile how alike children can be no matter their background.
I hope everyone is happy and healthy.
PS Mum, I checked my bank account and was so pleased to see it looking healthy after you transfered the money from my car into it. Thanks. xxx

Swimming carnival
Hi Chloe, you seem to do an awful lot of socialising and have a lot of holidays.... I think the volunteer lark sounds great to me! We had our swimming carnival today and we Di and I were the teachers for Gold faction. As I have nothing yello, I raided your wardrobe and found a lovely cool yellow dress. As it was 37 today, it was perfect. By the way Gold won! I cannot imagine doing so much exercise when it is so hot. I imagine the venues were not airconditioned??? You must be wasting away???? I am glad the money is safely in your bank account. Are you finding you are spending more than you imagined you would on a weekly basis, or not? It is week 6 for us and I can't believe it. It is only a 9 week term and Di and I discovered yesterday that we have to present assembly next week!!! Can't believe one of us didn't pick that up earlier. Initially it was panic stations, but then we got it sorted. Virginia is a darling, and she is going to demonstrate what they have been learning in dance class and we will do some Aboriginal Dreamtime stories and sing the Aboriginal Our father, as well as a few other things. Di will actually be in Bali next week, as of Wednesday evening, but the kids will rise to the occasion I am sure. I agree with your comment about kids all over the world being similar in so many ways. I must go now, as I have to organise my merit award for tomorrow and do some shopping on the way home. I hope your 'girls night' goes well. Sounds like fun! All my love, Mum
