Another weekend almost over - at least I can say that it was a fun one.
Friday- We tuk-tuked it to Riverside, pumped that it was Friday again. We met up with Abi's Mum and Mary at our end of week happy hour hangout, the FCC. After a few drinks we moved to a cheaper local eatery down the street (my meal cost $2.50) but the time soon came to farwell Kate and Sian who had completed their time at Seametrey and were off to Bankok on the night bus. It is a weird sensation saying goodbye to people you haven't known for that long, yet bond really quickly with, mostly due to shared circumstances. We swapped Facebook details and bid them a safe journey then it was time to turn our attention to the stalls of cooked bugs lining the riverside market.
Caz was keen to try A-ping (cooked spider). Christina jumped at the chance so they went halves. At first even holding it gave them the jeebies and after sampling the crunchy legs Caz had a small freak out and the juicy abdomen went flying. We discussed it and decided the abdomen definately needed to be tasted
Take a big bight
Cazz hestitates but Christina enjoys the moment if they were to claim they were spider eaters. At 25 cents a piece they make an affordable treat so another one was purchased. Around this time I was thinking, 'this doesn't look so hard'. I had even sampled a spider leg by now, so Panha walked back over the the stall, asked to 'try' a cricket and proceeded to bring it back for me. Straight down the hatchet it went. Very crunchy, salty and a bit hard to get all the bits out of your teeth. A bit like passionfriut pulp texture wise. It was a great experience but I can't say that spiders or cricket will be my next snack of choice (but I'd love to whip out a bag at morning recess just to see the looks I'd get).
Saturday Caz and I did the Lonely Planet suggested walking tour in the morning while the others went shopping and did the National Museum. We hit the pool in the afternoon as it was a stinker and rested up for Christina's farewell dinner. Dinner was really lovely but we had finished by 9pm so we headed to Elsewhere (a funky bar) for a few mohitos before hitting
the dancefloor. Around 10.30 we went to The Lounge a bar/ nightclub where we were given free shots on arrival. I was a very clever girl and just had one shot and one beer. A few minutes later "Meet me at your hotel room" was playing and all 8 of us were all on the dancefloor. By half 12 we moved to Heart of Darkness which is a late night dance place. We boogied until 3am then high tailed it back to our hotel room. Yes, you guessed it. We had to stay elsewhere because of the school's cerfew. At least we had done the sensible thing and arranged this prior to dinner. 6 of us crammed into one double room. I slept on cushions on the floor with a towel draped over me as a blanket. I love travelling and the crazy things you find yourself doing.
At the moment I am writing this from Blue Lime, our regular Sunday haunt. We are wallowing in their pool and Abi's Mum and Mary are soaking up some final rays before they leave around 2pm. Christina's flight is at midnight tonight and I am very sad to see her go.
Not only am I losing my room mate but also she has been like a Mum to us girls. Oh well, perhaps a trip to Sweeden might be on the cards?
Tomorrow, back to school and this week we will have to work a full 5 days! The last weeks have been busy but relaxed. I hope I can handle the return to regular routine. I hope you have all had lovely weekends. Thanks again to everyone who sent me birthday messages. They were much appreciated.

My boring life!
Hi Chloe, my life is just way too boring in comparison to yours! A weekend at the farm and farewell party at Noonamena is very tame, but I must say our food appeals to me much more than what you have been eating. I don't think I could ever try those 'delicacies'! I wonder how Jarrad felt on reading your latest blog??? I have marking to do for school and French homework to do, so I will keep this blog entry brief. Have a great week at school and I hope you don't miss your new friends too much. Much love, Mum.
