James and I left Bali at 11 pm arrived in Darwin- had a 3 hour layover then a 4 hour flight to Sydney. We arrived at 1 pm and easily located Natasha and Luisa (and yes- it was the hair I saw first on Lou) who had come to collect us. We jumped in Tasha's wheels and set in for a 3 hour drive to the "beach shack". When we arrived we were pleased to notice that it was not a shack at all just seems like an "A" frame suburban house at the beach with the shower in the garage. I was happy to meet Natasha's man Nick and Heather and Voltz who I had not seen in a while. We got our swim suits on right away grabbed the blow up raft and headed for the beach. With rip tides and large waves the beach was rife with DANGER, not to mention the fear of stabbing each other with the oars, but danger breeds excitement and actually Tash and I could have got out at anytime and the water may have been just to our waist, but still, there was danger in those waters. After surviving the treacherous waters we went back to the shack for nibblies, lively conversation cocktails and then a delicious dinner and more cocktails, Heather even gave us a mini concert, I had not heard "I Did Her in the Dodge Dart" for some time but the words came back to me easily. It was the kind of evening you saw in "The Big Chill" or some other movie with friends at a beach house and you think I want that kind of evening and just easy fun.

James and I slept fitfully (sans rooster) until the sweet, sweet smell of bacon beckoned us. Can this weekend get any better ?!? After breakfast we loaded up the cars and headed to Honeymoon Beach, part of Jarvis Bay which was also inside some sort of artillery range. It was a nice beach with shade and nice sand. We did some boating (no danger), and some snorkeling and general lazing about. We had wanted to see the world's best oyster shucker but he was out so we settled for fresh oysters from a fish and chips shop- then we went to the Lollyshop for presents for Tasha and Nick's girls. While there we got some good advice on Roo spotting from the man who worked there. We got back to the shack at about 5 and we all showered and got ready for dinner out. Sure enough the man from the Lolly shop was right and we found about 10 kangaroos at dusk, right next to the old folk's home just like he said. When we got out to take pictures they all kind of looked at us like, "What do you want?" We took a bunch of pictures but when we made a move to get closer they kind of scattered. Oh well it was cool to see them in the wild. We had a very elegant sinnder at the Butter Factory that night and took some pictures of a really big spider. The waitress said they have lots of them. Well fed and well spend we went home and watched a bit of TV then drifted off to bed.

We woke up had some breakfast and stared to make our way back to Sydney. On the way we stopped in Kangaroo Valley, which was a cute little town with a lot of shops and I got a flat white (coffee with milk- but less milk than a latte) and Lou ordered us some Lamingtons which are sponge cakes rolled in chocolate and coconut. James got a Mexican meat pie- the cake was delicious- I had thought James would be over ordering Mexican stuff after the "nachos" in Bali (fritos covered with ketchup, baked beans and cheese). This was not nearly that bad though and at least it had black beans. Those meat pies are pretty tasty, with the flakey crust and I like that you get the whole pie by yourself. After lunch we drove through some very green and windey roads, it was very pretty with trees and flowers and just huge patches of grass. Nick was nice enough to drop us at the front of our hotel at about 3 pm. After we checked in we quickly got ready and set off for Sound Wave, we took the train, which is right beside our hotel at central station, about 45 minutes into Balcktown and then the venue had shuttles from the train to the show. It was all very civilized.

Sydney Medical Conference
Which spots are the least expensive and yet have lots to offer when it comes to sights AND culture? I'm also informed by my friend from MedicalAlliance.com.au that I might need a buddy to less expenses. Thoughts?

Mexican Food
That is crazy! They offer Mexican food in Australia! IN BALI!!!??? Fritos and ketchup, crazy combo. Speaking of Mexican food, I had a preview of what tomorrow's green chile burritors from Manuelita are going to tast like, DAMN its gonna be good! She and I both thought of you since we knew you would love it too. (I've improved on my tolerance of spicy since you've been gone lol.) Kangaroos... monkeys... volcanos, that is sweet. Those Lamingtons sound really good too, Sounds like your having a blast. I received your post card a couple days ago and now proudly hangs in my cube :) Dude, your BFF Lorena is starting to attack the satisfaction line lol I think its cuz your not answering your desk phone. HAHAH I had to miss out of the company party, JuJu got sick. Everyone said it sucked lol. Anywho, say sup to hand maiden for me lol. Chao!
