Arrival was smooth and although tired I was pumped to finally be here. I was met at the end of the ramp that connects the plane to the airport with a man holding a sign reading ' CHLOE POND'. I felt like Angelina Jolie for a tenth of a second before he vanished into thin air. I rejoined the rest of the crowd heading towards customs. My NGO Visa was there- hence the vanishing man and is valid for 3 months so will def try to make the most of the time. Arrived at school via tuk tuk. Phillipe (deputy director and french volunteer here with his gf for 1 year) was there to greet me and along the way we chatted about the school, staff and travelling in general. The flat and the other volunteers are awesome. The flat is a bit like living in a tree house without the tree. Basic. But everything we need. The volunteers range in age from 21-late fifties/ early sixties (guess only). Mostly they are staying longer that I am with the longest being four months. I slept really well however, attribute this to my sleep anywhere policy and am appreciative of my talent as the bed is harder than most would like. I officially started teaching after lunch but before that i assisted in the nursery with the littlies. i had my first 75 cent lunch... pictures to follow but it was aaammmaaazzzinnngggg! Then it was off to the pool to 'have fun in a quiet way'. The kids do actually need this rule as their attention span is limited. We will be working on this... alot! Three 45 minute lessons later we were finished for the day. Kids are picked up between 4-5 so lessons finish at 4pm. Owen - the Irish volunteer was a chef in a former life. He is cooking for us tonight. Looking forward to it. That's news from now. Pictures to follow soon.
