Hi everyone, tonight is our last night in the Mekong Delta and tomorrow we will head towards Cambodia, the Mekong is massive and quite rough at times it was like being on the sea or Barton. The delta is 40,000sq km of tributries, rice plains and fruit orchards and veg gardens, we spent last night on An Binh Island (homestay) (population 10,000 vietmanese and two English). It was very junglie where we stayed we helped prepare the evening meal and when the spring rolls were brought to the table two Gecko (lizards) were hiding amongst them and jumped out at us one of them landing on my shoulder, the night was hot and noisy with all sorts of insect noises throught the night. This morning we went to the floating market at Cai Be. So tomorrow we will get a bus at 6.00 am for one hour then a ferry, then a motorcycle taxi to the bus station then another bus to the border where we will buy our Cambodian visas, then we are going to head for the beach.

So here is our summary of our Vietnam trip;

Vietnamese people love food noise and motorbikes.

Best places, Dalat, Hanoi and Hoi an.
Least liked was Ho Chi Minh City, just to big and noisy for us.
Cheapest Hotel was just 3 pounds 50p for a double room,
Worst toilet was in a none touristy area of Danang Julie was desperate so we went to a bar and asked to use the loo, but she couldnt find it on the 2nd try she discovered a little room with no toilet or anything in it except a big rat, which Julie saw but the three women trying to get her to go in there and pea in a bowl,didnt see the rat.
Worst bus journey, when we got off a train at 12.35 110km from Dalat, took a forty min motorcycle taxi, and an 8hr bus journey we finally gave up at 10.30pm, got of the bus and checked into a hotel, we were now 120km from Dalat.

Vietnam is such a different country and culture the people are so lovely here, it amazes us how for such a highly populated place they all get on so well together, they have such long days of work in such a hot climate, in quite unpleasant conditions, the children are

so well behaved and no yob culture.we have had a amazing experience and both feel we have a good understanding of this country, and the people.
The food has been lovely, but at times a bit scary.
