So it's one week AFTER departure date and I am still here in Australia waiting for the Indian bureaucracy to do it's thing and spit out my passport with Work Visa (which I need for March when I start my voluntary assignment) - and of course until I have my passport (despite the fact that I already have my tourist visa - which took just 3 days to process) I can't board a plane.
I was totally fine with this up to about 3 days ago. Now my friends have moved into my house - I am camped in a spare room - with all my stuff other than what I intended to take travelling and to the assignment in storage etc etc..
Hey - it's still good in the scheme of things. But if the visa is not out by tomorrow (Friday the 29th) I face another week delay (Qantas only fly to Mumbai on Thurs and Frid and that's who I have my ticket with - which now has been re-booked twice!).
Seems there is nothing to be done but wait - totally out of my control - no point goint to the visa office and just standing my ground (in fact experience would say this might make things worse). So what to do? - back to the beach with a good book I guess!
Bring it on!
p.s. The last entry (I am new to all this and just not sure if I managed to do the right thing) was not registering clearly that the story belongs to LAST year (2009) when I was in India - just thought I'd explain that in case someone thought I was there already again!
