Yesterday we left Ft. Myers and drove to Rainbow Springs State Park near Dunnellen. We met my cousins, Candy and Becky, at Pizza hut for supper. What a great time we had; those two gals are crazy and fun to be with. We calculated we hadn't seen each other since our grandmother's funeral in the early 90's, so a lot of catching up was in order. I hated when it was time to part.

It was nearly dark when we got back to the campground and we still hadn't set up the camper. We were running late when we checked in so just unhooked from the truck, plugged in the electricity and headed for town. We hadn't been inside after setting up for more than 2 minutes when the rain started. It just rained a few minutes and we enjoyed a quiet evening reading before hitting the sack. It was quite windy all night and rained really hard several times. It was pretty warm when we went to bed, but had to pull up the quilts before morning. It was 54 when I got up.

The morning was still breezy, but warmed up quickly to a comfortable temperature. We

walked down to the Rainbow River, which was clear and beautiful, then went back to the truck and drove over to the visitor center at the springs 7-1/2 miles away by road. The springs were wonderful, the colors amazing, the water crystal clear. The gardens around the area were stunning, too. Then it was back to the campground and fold up the camper.

We then drove to St. Augustine by way of Ocala, Salt Springs, Palatka and Crescent Beach. We set up camp in a wonderful natural campground at Anastasia State Park, then headed for the beach. The wind is quite strong out of the west and when it meets the incoming waves from the Atlantic Ocean, it creates curls and spray. Just beautiful. The water is 55 degrees, so I don't think we'll be doing any swimming. Tomorrow we tour St. Augustine.
