On the Mickey Train - the windows where in the shape of Mickey Mouse and it had really plush velvet seats!
Despite being shattered and being awake for 27hrs I woke up 1:30am after a certain hedgehog named HB woke up and was snufferling around her bed. I was half expecting her to get into my bed, so before she really got a chance to I got up and put her back to bed. It only took her 30mins to drift back off to sleep. How I wish the same were true for me, but alas no, I stayed awake till 5 before I drifted back off, but that only gave me an hr or so before my alarm went off. Because today was a DISNEY day 😱

Disney was amazing! They have this special Disney train that takes you from Sunny Bay (isn’t that a happy name for a station) to Disneyland. The first few things that struck me when we eventually got onto Main Street (it is a ridiculously long walk from the station to the park) was 1) how clean it was. Walt Disney World is clean and it would be a hard task to find any rubbish lying around the park. But compared to this park it is untidy. Disneyland HK opened in September 2005 but walking down, I should say skipping down, Main Street it looked like it had been open for a week only. Second of all Disneyland is tiny. I mean really really small. Not just the size of the park but the buildings look really tiny as well. The final thing I noticed was how empty it was. True we were there during school time, but still in WDW it would still have people around. There seemed to be no-one here. That would have been great if we had been the only people. But obviously we weren’t.

Our first stop had to be fantasyland (of course) and the Carrousel - much to F’s dismay. Then it was onto Mickey’s Philharmagic. Which is a 3D show. I love this show and have seen it hundreds of times, but it still is great. Seeing it while watching a child’s reaction to it just made it soooooo much better. I thought HB might find parts of it a little scary as things do come flying at you, but she took it totally in her stride. We had to find the Princesses next or I think HB would have blown a gasket. Luckily Princess Aurora was out so we got to see her. HB was stunned - she really believed that she was meeting Belle and Aurora. She couldn’t say anything for about 10 mins afterwards. Plus because we were the only white people around they made such a fuss over us.

F had been so patient but you could tell that he really wanted to do something that appealed to him. So off into Tomorrowland we went. I really like it when parents hate riding roller coaster as it means I get to go on while they hold the bags rather than me. F was expecting it to be like the Space Mountain from Paris, but it was more like the one from WDW. Which I like more, just because it is so zippy with sharp turns and drops in the dark. It was good, but not as fast as the one in Florida. We did try to get onto the Autotopia (for all you non Disney people - that is a ride where you get to drive cars on a track) but it was shut, so we headed to Buzz Lightyear. HB almost had a heart attack when she saw the talking Buzz

Alas, I wont be the next Queen or King of England. Oh well, better find that Prince.
in the queue, she flatly refused to go past it. It is funny how some things totally freak children out, while other things don’t. Mrs G took her out while the rest of us went on. By the time we came out HB was happy enough catching bubbles - well to be fair so would I - so simple yet so satisfying.

Before lunch we rode It’s A Small World - this one had a lot less singing in it - Hooray I hear some of you say! Boo I say. There is nothing better than annoying all those around you by singing It’s A Small World really loudly and in tune, because all the dolls sing it out of tune, so by singing it in key makes it sound worse. Hopefully just by mentioning the name you will all have started to hum the tune and will have it stuck on the brain for the next few hours *insert evil laugh*.

The afternoon parade was great fun - really catchy and up-beat. But it was now time to go 😞 Ooh, I really wanted to stay for the fireworks. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I really really wanted to stay for

Ah, we look awesome!
the fireworks. Poor HB was like - what about the Princesses, can’t I see them again? No! They are at a dancing lesson with the Princes. I swear, I come up with the most outrageous stories to come up to explain things to HB, but she expects them - so no harm. I do get very odd looks though. HB asked me why the earth shakes (we were watching the news on Haiti) and I said the Earth was like a huge jigsaw puzzle and sometimes it’s like a person jumping next to it making all the pieces move suddenly - she excepted that. Or when she asked how to Planes fly and I said they have huge wings that if you watch actually flap up and down. The air hostesses laughed at that one - but you try explaining lift and aerodynamics to a 5 year old. Anyway the wings do slightly move up and down - so technically I’m not lying.

So back we went to our hotel for another room service meal and hopefully for a better night’s sleep.

My final thoughts of the park - it is a sweet park, but it needs

Look at that face - stunned and speachless!
a lot of work. I don't think I would rush back until they have build a Haunted Mansion, Thunder Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean at least. I think it is actually a sin that they didn't put those rides in to begin with.

To be continued...

Fun!
The castle looks exactly like the one in Disneyland California. Too bad they haven't built more rides yet. Also too bad you didn't get to stay for fireworks. You might be able to see them from your hotel window if you're facing the island. I hope you get some decent sleep VERY soon!
