mwiriwe!

what an exhausting meeting! lasted over 4 hours (more work than ive done for months or maybe years!) i brought up the fact that i hadn't had much to do and that i will possibly go and organise for another organisation but that did not go down well at all!! partly due to the fact that they have fallen out with the guy that runs the organisation and partly because they feel that i am 'their' volunteer. I get the impression it is somewhat like a status symbol to have a volunteer aswell. partly because they can't understand wanting to fill up time and that i would like to have a constructive 6 weeks here. Time has no value out here....... at work the cost of labour is minimal and things can always be done another time.

term starts a week on monday and despite having no pupils, salaries must still be paid. this did not seem to be a huge issue as apparently it is common for salaries to be paid 1/2/3 months late!

time here is 2hrs infront of the UK but rwandan time is 6 hours out..... that's to say our 6am is actually 0.00 and then at our noon it is 6. I guess it is logical really given that daylight hours go from 6am til 6pm being so close to the equator.

despite living in france it is amazingly difficult trying to type on a qwerty keyboard when it's actually azerty but its all good practice! and i have had the pleasure of michael jackson and elton john being blasted out of the computer next to me to make me chuckle!!

right the time is now 6pm and its getting dark which means i should head home and put on some long clothes and deet (which apparently smells of turkish delight)!!!

Keep 'em Coming!
: ) your update was just what I needed...a little something to keep everything in perspective. We're pressed for a deadline tonight and it's nice to read about people who realize that things can always be done another time. Deet, Turkish delight...I'll have to give it a good whiff next time to confirm! ; )

Sense of time
I know what you mean about time - Egypt was pretty much the same, everything was 'bokra' or 'badr bokra' (tomorrow, after tomorrow) and noone ever seemed to get anything done! xx
