09The next morning we all decided to go to the Batu Caves. Glen was in charge of haggling for the taxis. They do not often want to use their meter in the cab because they don’t earn as much, so you have to find a taxi that will turn on their meter. We all piled into two cabs, we got in with Glen and showed us a few sights along the way. We turned up at the Batu Caves and gazed upon a huge gold statue of Shiva. Beside Shiva was 272 steep stairs straight up into the caves. The caves were huge. We walk into the other side and I spotted a lady that was carrying her hair on her back. It looked as if she had never ever cut her and she looked to be around 70 years old. She walked back inside the cave and there were Indians walking up to her as she started to bless people. She would put a thumb print on their foreheads as they said a prayer and touched her feet. All the Belchers were laughing and saying there is no way they would touch her feet. Jacinta was curious and I encouraged
her to get blessed and give us safe travels. She wasn’t sure if she was allowed to get blessed because she wasn’t Hindi. I had to basically push her into getting blessed. She got blessed and because she was so worried about doing something wrong she forgot to pray for our safe travels. We got back to the unit and headed for lunch. We decided on sushi and with five of us pigging out on the sushi train to whole bill only costed $40 Aus very cheap. We were full from that but Glen insisted on we had to try a “sour sop”. It was a desert that consisted of frozen lemon ice with Jap fruit and some other fruit that looked like small frog eggs. It was so nice and we all agreed we could make a fortune selling it back in Aus. We retired back to the unit and Glen and Narelle was able to squeeze us in the unit for the night as it was quiet full already. This made it allot easier on both of us because we couldn’t afford to stay in the Cititel hotel again and we would have to travel away from Middle
park to get a hostel. Jacinta and I both loved the company of the Belchers anyway and we all get along really well. We had a few beers and before long it was dinner again so we headed to another restaurant where they had the best pork you could eat. Malaysian food is by far the nicest food you can eat and it’s so cheap. All the food we have tasted has been followed by “oh my god how good is that”!
