Ok - so the weather has not let up since i have arrived, with the exception of one day where i decided to get myself so sunburnt that i can only now sit on my thighs comfortably 4 days later. i only missed one part of my body with cream! Other than that it has given england a run for its money. Although to be fair - i have been told the whole of the country has suffered this front and i should not blame wellington itself. However, the flu i have been in bed with for 3 days i'm sure is her fault!

so - the city is actually a really lovely place. it has the size to give it a city/town feel, major shops, a beautiful harbour, a man-made beach with american style volley ball players and surrounded by stunning hills. The place has some real personality and is very cultural and arts focused. i decided to do some token job hunting, and decided to cold call the theatres and arts companies in the city, this only took a few hours and realised that NZ is pretty small - and quickly met everyone who was anyone in not only the city, but in the 'arts hub' of the country! This wasn't hard, (and the british accent helped i'm sure!) and resulted in two possible jobs lined up for Jan which is sweet. One working on the NZ Arts festival, and the other as possible production co-ordinater at the drama school.

However, the attitude here is very much - 'it's probably yours, so we'll give you a shout after xmas' Seriously, people would fall over here if they leaned back any more. Not entirely convinced i even want to work this side of 2011, we'll see what the summer brings, i'm still holding onto the dream of bartender extraordinaire or ski chalet cleaner. These certainly need some thinking about.

With not alot happening in welly till jan, and really wanting to leave my swine flu behind, i find myself in Wellington airport flying to Queenstown to meet some mates from the big green bus. With no structured plans to visit the south, i feel i am cheating this part a little, but honestly cant find the energy to make any real plans for now, and simply am looking forward to a week in the party capital with some friends. Who knows, i may even stumble across dream career choice numero 1....

Raining in NZ ?
Dear Litttle karen It sounds like you are having a very educational time in spite of the flu and the english style weather! Davin is going to be in Australia from Jan on - maybe if NZ doesn't work out you could get in touch with him? Keep positive and keep sending the blogs- I love reading them. My new dog Misty sends her love - so do Paddy and Ben - and me!
