G’day Cobbers

We arrived in Sydney last Friday afternoon.

The first 2 days the weather was glorious. Not as hot as Brisbane but still nice, we went to the usual sights - Opera House, Harbour Bridge and got some ace photos. Took a walk over the bridge and climbed one of the towers - this was prep to see if Anne's vertigo could withstand a bridge climb. Sadly she wasn't sure it would and after that the weather took a turn for the worse anyway!

On Saturday night we went out for a meal and a few drinks local to our hotel (Surrey Hills) and had an excellent time. Sydney has a good vibe, we imagine that it is pretty similar to London for the social scene.

On our third day it totally poured down, torrential style! We went to do a bit of shopping and Anne got her wedding shoes - finally! Went to the cinema at night to see “Couples Retreat”, which was very funny; Vince Vaughn was excellent in it. The screen was tiny though, we sat near the back and could hardly see it, it was smaller that Dunoon Cinema screen but further away.

The next day we went to the Sydney Aquarium and saw some awesome sea creature, including a crazy leafy Sea Dragon, some hungry sharks and some Dugongs (never even heard of these before but they are so cool)

The next day we went up Sydney Tower, which has 360’ panoramic views of Sydney -sweet, it also has the tallest working post box in the southern hemisphere. The tower also has an Aussie Trex thing, that was like a simulator but the screen was a bit out of focus, so it was a bit of an anti-climax. At night we went to the IMAX to see Under the Sea 3D - keeping up the Aquarium theme. It was awesome the screen was humongous, which made up for the poor cinema and simulator.

The following day the weather had picked up, so we went to another zoo!! We had bought some Kellogg’s cereal bars that had a promo on the back of the box (buy 1 get 1 free) so we couldn’t resist. Taronga Zoo is a short boat ride away from Sydney Harbour. It was really good, it had some animals we hadn’t seen in the other zoos; it had a baby elephant, meerkats, monkeys, apes and some really cute Red Pandas. It also had a great Seal show, can't believe that they are so intelligent. Took away some important messages as well as there are so many animals that seem to be endangered now - a lot of them Asian. Apparantly a lot of their habitat it being cleared for Palm Oil growth which is in a lot of our cosmetics and some foods so we have to try and cut out at least some products with this in.

Thursday we took a train and a walk to Bondi Beach. The weather was pretty cloudy, the beach was pretty empty except for some surfer dudes catching some waves - Radical. There was a new Art Exhibition happening along the coast line (Sculptures by the Sea), so we took a 3Km walk along the cliff/beach and took in some of the art work. The weather picked up and it ended up a very chilled out and relaxing day.

Got all packed up for heading to New Zealand on Friday morning - yeah.

Hope all is well back home guys, miss yous and love yous loads.
