Day 9 - Vang Vieng

Today we caught what felt like the worlds longest bus ride to Vang Vieng. We got the wrong bus, it was not the express like we thought so we had to make a few stops on the way......... It ended up taking around 5 hours. It was jam packed and had no air conditioning. I was sweating like I had just run a marathon. We were both fortunate that our stomachs had recovered enough to make it through the bus trip.

We made it to Vang Vieng and checked into a guesthouse for about $8 a night. It is good value for money. We decided not to go tubing, kayaking looked much more fun. The kayaking was awesome fun and somehow our guide (in his own kayak) got splashed a few times with my paddle 😉 He did get his own back though. We also soaked a few other tourist and guides along the way. Pepsi tried to splash someone but put his paddle in way too deep and this resulted in us almost flipping over lol. The scenery while floating down the river was beautiful (see pics).

We made a couple of

The view from inside the boat. There was some better scenery but it was hard to take photos. Most of the time the camera was stored in a waterproof bag. One bump or splash and the camera would be ruined.........
stops along the way. There are bars on the river bank to cater for tourists. I was wondering why I could hear techo when floating down a river in the middle of Laos lol. There also had mud volleyball is an interesting sport. Some ppl playing volleyball crash tackled our guide and pushed him into the mud (they knew him). This chick also smeared Pepsi and his video camera with mud (he didnt argue as she looked like she could benchpress more than him which is not too difficult lol). I managed to escape......

We went out and grabbed some dinner and every resturant in town is either playing re-runs of Friends or Family Guy. I cant stand Friends so I watched Family Guy.

We decided to stay here another day so tomorrow we have half a day of caving booked.

I am half asleep and have no idea what I am writing so I better sign off. I am up late catching up as I was without the net for a few days.

Ripoff Tally - 7 (maybe we have worked it out by now).
