Gym in the ParkGym in the ParkGym in the Park

The place was packed and it seems just like a playground in a park, but all the machines are for exercise. We saw all ages and these places are packed in the early morning and evening to avoid the heat.
We wanted to share a few pictures that we have taken over the last 5 days of our daily life here.

We went to dinner with another couple in our program that lives in our apt complex. Then we walked through the park that is next to our complex and found the following: an outside gym and women doing what appeared to be a Chinese form of line dancing. Kathleen and I said we would try to learn some of the dances by the end of our stay here in China so we could participate with them.

On Sunday after I taught we found a new restaurant that served spaghetti, sandwiches and pizza. We ordered the spaghetti for 12 kuai=$1.76, sandwich for 15 kuai=$2.20 and bubble tea for 7 kuai=$1.02. I included some pictures to show you some of the food.

I will try to remember to take more pictures of the Chinese food we eat. Tonight our teachers are taking us to dinner after the school performances for National Day. Catherine, Head of the English Department, mentioned getting a 90 minute foot massage for 50 kuai=$7.35 or we could get a xi tou. A xi tou is

watching the women dance in the park, very relaxing.
where they wash your hair, massage your head, neck, back, arms and legs, then wash your face and blow dry your hair for about 60 minutes for 20-30 kuai=$2.94 to $4.41. Any of these services sound great since I haven't gotten any massages since being in China. I also have only blow dried my hair ONCE in the little over 8 weeks we have been here.

We need to pack tonight then we head out to Hong Kong after Chinese class then on to Seoul, South Korea Thursday afternoon.

Have a great day!!!!

They give you one plastic glove to eat your sandwich as if it is ribs or something messy. Not the same as a deli sandwich in the US but it worked.
