Edit Blog Post

Ok, first official entry of my new travel blog. How exciting! First things first, I found a place 😊 I will be living very near Cruz Del Rayo with 2 very cool gay gentlemen: Amancio and Pedro. Amancio works for IBM, and Pedro works for the metro, I met them yesterday, and what can I really say, I instantly felt good about meeting them both. Amancio was home when I had arrived and called Pedro from his boyfriends home to come and meet me. The flat itself is very European, clean, and quaint. There is a small living area, a kitchen, one bathroom and 3 bedrooms. My room is a fair size for what I am paying and I have a window I can dry my clothes out of, which is so very convenient. Amancio offered me a beer as we talked, in addition to some olives and chips, which was interesting and very inviting, he is 30 years old and very intelligent, he likes the idea of my interest in linguistics. Pablo speaks very little English, and I speak a small amount of Spanish (in my opinion), but we were able to communicate, and I promised myself that I would do my best to learn as much as I can while I am here. Spain is one big cultural sponge, and I want to squeeze every drop possible and find out exactly why I wanted to come and teach. When they asked, I thought back to why I wanted to leave the country, I know that I wanted the teaching experience, the abroad experience, and more time to write without academic strings tying me down. But when I answered my voice was unsure, and I believe that I came across ambivalent in my answer...
So with the pressure of finding a room to stay in (for however long I do not know) now I need to concentrate on school. I am unable to move in until the 5th of October, so I have 2 more weeks in hostels, which sucks. I met a great guy, Danny, whom stayed at CEPE this past summer, and stayed with the same host family as I this past spring. What an incredible coincidence! We will be moving hostels together tomorrow, to save money, which is always good. So with orientation coming up, I just need to study more online (I regret to say that I am falling behind, with moving and the jet lag) and turn in assignments on time, I am ahead 8 hours, a pretty cool advantage, and I am thankful I am able to continue my studies and travel.
I miss my cats, my family, and my friends of course, but I can't help but feel this incredible sense of optimism and positivity, I made it, and even though I am alone, I can cope. I lived alone in the past, spent the summer preparing mentally and physically (I'm still smoke free!) and I keep telling myself: "this is what I want", so I can't complain about any of my decisions.

I think this is all I have at the moment, I'll write more from the next hostel.
