It's good to be the King
The Birthday Boy is surrounded by admiring females and the bounteous fruits of his Big Day. We are in Chicago, following a terrific visit to Bloomington. Many thanks to my niece, Danza, and her husband Matt for being wonderful hosts. We had a great time reconnecting with many family members. Friday night brought us to Cafe Pizzeria, a favorite haunt from college days. Nothing beats the strombolis with bread and butter pickles. Saturday it was up early for golf with Alec, Matt, and my nephews, Justin and Ken. It was a blast. Then back to Matt and Danza's for yard games, great food, beer, and lots of time with the family. We're looking forward to the next incarnation of the family reunion. Sunday, it was time for Danza and Matt's son Harrison to have his first birthday party. It was a great time. After the party, we reconnected with our old friends Butch and Sandy, and it was good to see them again.
Monday, we drove to Chicago. It has been so long since I lived here, it seems almost like a new city for me, as it definitely is for Andrew and Alec. We spent today sightseeing in the Loop, then went up to Justin and Emily's new digs in the Andersonville section of town.
Cultural Attractions
Visitors to famous places are obliged to see and report on the most essential sites. Accordingly, we took in the famed Rock and Roll McDonalds. Here's to Wesley Willis. It is really strange for me to ride the El and see all the places that were so familiar back in the '70s. It is still a great town, and I hope to return in the future.
Tomorrow we leave Chicago for Wisconsin, where we'll visit my dear sister-ex-law, Mary Ann, and her husband Lyle. From there it's on to South Dakota.

Maxwell's Lung Power
It was a pleasure to play host as your trip begins. You got the best weather our city can offer -- Chicago put its best foot forward for you guys. Loved chatting about movies, music, books, the genius of Nick Cave, and the astounding ability of my infant son to scream for hours at his bedtime. We always have a room for you guys, so let me know when your travels take you back our way. Finally, I encourage liberal use of your camera and keyboard as the trip unfolds. Em and I are eager for updates.
