trying to look the part of beach bum. Very excited about my big hair.
Life is not always about the big things such as big trips. Small trips can be just as much fun. Now that I have joined the adult world with a real job, meaning it pays in dollars and has health insurance, I don't have time to travel. However, with tons of new friends and reconnecting with old ones I find my life to be very full and exciting. I am learning to appreciate the small things. With a three-day weekend I was able to take a day trip with my Allie, Lisa and Gabe to Huntington Beach. Known for Atalaya, the picturesque, Moorish-style winter home of Anna Hyatt and Archer Huntington, sculptress and philanthropist, respectively, who left the park and adjacent Brookgreen Gardens as their legacy. There is something about sitting on a beach and watching waves that puts you in a relaxed and good mood. Relaxed is what I need since I now work in a call centers or rather a complaint center. People don't call a call center to say how wonderful Verizon Wireless is they only when something is wrong. People sometimes get worked up over the strangest things. But I love my job. It pays me and

provides me with opportunities that I would not have other wise. I have met great people and I am learning a lot. I am learning a lot about people. I am also getting the opportunity to learn about technology which is something I have not spent a whole lot of time. So instead of spending time studying the past I am trying to keep up with the technology of the future. But as a result of having a full time job I was very thankful for the opportunity to sit on the beach and soak in the salt air and sun. Only at the beach do you want to lie in the dirt and sweat. Huntington is a very clean beach. We brought a metal detector and all we found was a penny and a small fishhook. Huntington is more than just a beach but has great hiking trails through the marsh. I however will be sticking to paved roads due to my extreme phobia of alligators. The pier through the marsh provided great opportunities to photograph wildlife. I am always amazed by nature and will be taking more day trips to enjoy the peace of sitting in the sand

and watching the waves come in.

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.

Trisha, these pics are beautiful. I have always wanted to go to Huntington Beach!! I think they have cabins there you can rent weekly for pretty cheap during the summer. Those crabs look scary! :)

Hi, just saw your crab and gator pictures while we were camping at Huntington Beach and wanted to say great job. I also liked your description of Atalaya. If it's okay, I linked to you from my blog MortysAdventure.blogspot. Keep up the goodness. Jim
