Shortly after getting back from the states I was beckoned to join Christy, Alex and Belinda to go to camp on the island of Texel (remember Texel when I went there with Diana, Francis and Isabella). I couldn't resist so I took them up on the offer.

We caught the train to Den Helder again, then the ferry to Texel. Once on Texel we got the bus, past Den Hoom, past De Koog and all the way to that's right you guessed it De Cocksdorp. Christy had managed to finds us a nice little campsite by De Cocksdorp.

While the others went to hire some bikes, I went to lay on the sand dunes in the beach. I was a little bit tired from going out the previous night to a Michael Jackson tribute night in Paradiso. It was well worth it though.

The dunes was mighty warm so I thought the only right thing to do at a moment like this was to go jump into the water. The water was nice but a little bit cold.
I fell asleep in the sun and got a little burnt shortly thereafter. I went hiking along the beach and got a call from Christy they were shopping for dinner.

The campsite was 3km from where I was so I told Christy to go ahead and purchase what they were thinking of having for dinner I was keen for anything. I then started the trek back.

On the way back I got lost and got swopped a few times in some seagull nesting areas. Also, I managed to stumble on a couple of German nudists sun bathing - and consequently realized I found my first nudist beach in the Netherlands.
Unfortunately there was only 1 couple here and I don’t feel I experienced a nudist beach to it is full potential.

Back at the campsite, I showered up and joined the others in dinner preparations. We were cooking over a budget €2 grill and it was the bomb. Then we ran out of coals to cook the rest of the meat so we used a combination of fire starters and wood that we found lying around. This was despite no fires being allowed at the campsite.

We slept in a four person tent that night - nice and snug. I think the island of Texel attracts luxury campers, with it is 11e price tag for putting up a tent. Everyone besides us seemed to either have a caravan or a big 6 person tent for 2 people plus a nice electric stove. No beer or camp fires in the evening in sight.

The next day I went for a walk to the light house at the end of the island and through the town of De Cocksdorp. The others went for a ride around the island on their bikes. We left the island around 2pm. It was an awesome weekend and I wouldn’t have it any other way😊
