Coming to an end

Hello!

My trip is gradually coming to an end- tomorrow will be my final day at both the orphanage and the school. Whilst i must admit that i am looking forward to returning home, i will without a doubt be sad to leave. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, it has been quite challenging at times but that has made it all the more rewarding. As i expected I have become somewhat attached to the children... saying goodbye won´t be easy!

I don´t think that i have mentioned the driving here yet...it is CRAZY! The roads are very wide and there are no lanes, making it possible for 2-3 cars, minibuses, coaches, bikes to drive alongside eachother in no particular order. Whilst walking, almost every taxi that passes by assumes that you want a ride, as it first sounds it´s horn several times then pulls up alongside you. Taxis here are extremely cheap and the price is haggled between the passenger and the driver- on average a 15 minute ride costs 3 Solles (60p)! If there isn´t a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction, both sides of the roads are used.... resulting in many near misses!

On Friday i am heading off into the jungle for the weekend along with 2 other volunteers which i am very excited about! I expect it will show me an entirely different side of Peru and i am particularly looking forward to meeting the tribes and visiting a few waterfalls.

I have to go now but i hope to write another blog before i leave.

XxX
