Tuesday 11th August 2009 Three years ago to the day we met in NZ. It was an adventurous day back then (
see) and so we like to celebrate it by doing something similar (as opposed to a fancy meal, etc). So I suggested a sunset hike up Lone Mountain near our house. Not a hard hike, but steep and worth the effort-a 360 degree view of the Las Vegas valley. I stashed a bottle of sparkly and two tuperware 'glasses' in my bag. We got to the top as the sun was setting and had the mountain to ourselves (apart from butterflies dancing at the top). We drank to our fortune of meeting three years ago and then I 'proposed'. As you probably know I'm not one for formal/traditional stuff so there was no down on one knee, and the ring was far from a big, sparkly diamond - it was the complete opposite - made of non-precious metals hammered together. Lisa's not a traditional girl, so the knee thing wouldn't have suited her anyway. The ring is a 'placeholder' until we chose/make a nice ring together. I didn't even plan what to say. I just took the ring with
me (I have had it since Sept 2008) in case it felt right - that was as far as my planning went. Lisa cried and clapped. We gave the dogs celebratory treats, watched the sun set and the lights of Vegas turn on, and then went home to sit in the hot tub and drink New Zealand wine. We planned to watch the Perseids meteor shower but fell asleep.

you missed the meteor showers?
After all that, you must have seen your own Persied shooting stars in each other's eyes. Thank you for sharing such a touching story. I believe in love stories. Miss you, xxxooooo Cynthia
