Ciao Bella!

To quote Fatboy slim (who we will be seeing in a week) "You´ve come along way baby" ...... and we have!

To quote Jack Johnson we are "Sitting, waiting, wishing" in Sloviania´s capital Ljubljana, "Writing to reach you" to quote Travis.

Right, Rome . . . . . Roman Forum, Check.... Colloseum, Check.... Ice Cream, Check.... St Peters, Check..... Sistine Chapel, Check.... Pizza, Check.... Spanish Steps, Check.... Trevi Fountain, Check..... Traditional Italian food, Check.... Pantheon, Check..... Cara, Check.... BOOM!
After our sight seeing extravaganza in Rome we jumped onto ferry no.2 and made like a bannana and Split.

Croatia´s coatal capital, Split includes a mountainous backdrop, a rocky coastline and a UNESCO protected walled old town.
While browsing the many tat market stalls of Split, we happened upon an old, old snorkel seller. She quoted her price at 160 Kuna for 2 snorkel sets. After an hour of solid haggling we dominated the proceedings by getting her down to 140 kuna, DONE! Walking up the street, feeling elated and thinking of using our new found haggling skills in the Portree CO-OP the facts dawned on us. We had only saved the measly sum of £2.84. Despite this, the snorkel times in the Adriatic, swimming with the shoals of tiny, tiny fish and avoiding the plethora of sea urchins were some of the best of the trip.

We´d like to tell you what Zagreb has to offer the modern traveller but sadly we can't!
Our first day we arrived early evening so just chilled at our hostel. On the second day after a tip off from Igor our hostel man and with the promise of exquisite beauty we headed for a trip off the tourist trail. Hiring a car with an American & two Fins we headed West for an hour, drove down a dirt track, crossed a military bridge & fought through a blackberry thicket arriving, to qoute Groove Armada "At the river".
We sampled the local ingredients of ripe blackberries, fresh, live mint and homebrewed Croatian cherry brandy, swam in the river then were invited to camp the night by some insanely freindly local Croats. The American and Fins went home crying but the Scots stayed strong and it turned out to be a great night. Staying up till the wee hours, listening to a live Guitar, voice & trumpet combo and quaffing more cherry brandy, good times were had by all.
By the time we got back the next day it was too late to go into the town so we are still none the wiser to the sights and sounds of Zagreb!

Next episode: Slovenia & Hungary

Thanks to; Cara, Nathan, Chris, Andrew, Igor and Joeseph & the Croats for their hospitality.

No thanks to; The psycho Split cleaner!

We continue...........

Good blogs. However let's see: two guys, CHECK from the North of Scotland, CHECK in Europe CHECK, for a couple of months, CHECK busking it up..... UH-UH. Nothing about the busking for quite a while. (To quote Rihanna) Please don't stop the music, (to quote Michael Jackson) Don't stop till you get enough (euros). You must feel like you're 2000 light years from home ( to quote the Rolling Stones) So, Have the time of your life (to slightly misquote the Top Gun theme), because it will be Gone too soon (MJ again). (That's enough song refs, Ed). Elizabeth
