We're Going on a Bear Hunt

We woke up surrounded by beige colored landscape and thought we had a long boring ride ahead, but we were happily mistaken. Wyoming displays a variety of colors and unique types of landscape. From snow topped mountains to deep green grass to vibrant red hills we were truly amazed by the sights we saw. An unforeseen detour yielded great rewards as we traveled through the Painted Desert (thanks to the clarification Jamie we thought we were in a bottle of sand art)! Our eyes were always glued out the window as we hunted for wild life, but unfortunately only saw cows, horses, and a mule!
After several hours of entertaining ourselves in the car, we stopped in Cody for snacks and a real cowboy! Our dear friend, Teddy Roosevelt, guaranteed that we would see fascinating wildlife along the journey from Cody to Yellowstone. We were so excited and ready with the camera, but once again only cows and horses (not even a mule this time)!
As we entered Yellowstone, once again the wildlife hunt was on and we were ready! After some unsuccessful viewings, we tried to lure them towards us with baked lays and were going to string an apple behind the skittle. When all of a sudden 10 feet from the Skittle arose an enormous brown, furry, bison. We could hardly believe our eyes, but before we knew it there was another one on the other side of us. We set off to find Old Faithful and saw several other bison along the way. We quickly pulled off the road when we came upon a large gathering of people taking pictures of what we thought were elk, but later realized were muled deer.
Out of the treetops the steam rose from smaller geysers leading us to Old Faithful. We were having a little picnic and waiting on Old Faithful to erupt when out of nowhere Buster the Bison came strolling along. We’re not sure if we enjoyed the Bison or Old Faithful more because both were truly amazing. The Bison put on a show, including rolling over and spitting, while Old Faithful spewed up into the air. Buster looked into the crowd and we feared there may have been a Buffalo Bison Stampede Stampede Stampede!! (If anyone from Buffalo reads this and knows this song please comment so we know Fern didn’t just make it up.)
As dusk set on Yellowstone the animals came out to eat and we saw a herd of elks and then not far after a herd of moose! Being the Louis and Clark  we are, we got as close as we could and snuck between the trees to photograph this rare sighting! However, during our adventure we were attacked by hummingbird size mosquitos. As the moon rises on our fabulous adventure we look forward to seeing even more wildlife in the Grand Tetons!!

I do believe the stampede is alittle more picturesque in Yellowstone than it is at Buffalo ball park, but the Bison stampede chant from the fans would spook those big boys in Yellowstone (they appear calm in your pix) Ask miss Anna if she remembers how COLD that water is, I myself couldn't even stand my pinky toes in it, you are the bravest of brave going in up to your knees. Did you have a sasperilla with the cowboy? I love the pictures and can't wait to view printed ones. Love and kisses mommy
