Avi the Chef! and the making of "A Couple of Cops"

Avi made us a wonderful dinner tonight! He is quite the host...We'd planned on going to a movie but instead watched a movie being made when we went out for a walk after dinner...

We'd noticed the last day or two that many streets had orange no parking cones out. Avi said it was for a movie that was being filmed in the area. There are a few movie lots/studios and lighting places. Tomorrow we'll go see a set for Atlantic City that has been left up.

We were going to walk around the park but decided to head towards the lights and to where all the people were standing. So many people waiting and watching the filming which took all of a few minutes but the setting up took a long time. One of the preparations is a water truck that went through to water the road so in case it rains one of the nights of filming they will be already prepared! This we learned from a policeman who was on duty at the corner. There were a few other security guys standing around, one guy did a lot of forcefully telling the crowd to stay on the sidewalks as the truck with the car would come barreling down the street and because the road was wet it could slide... it did too!

The movie is "A Couple of Cops" starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan. A detective comedy. It was a blast seeing it and all that went into the making of it. I could not believe that it was the actual actors! I guess I thought there'd be stunt doubles. Like a little kid I am sometimes..but how fun! We were told we could only take stills, no flash. Unfortunately you can't hear the gunfire in the still pictures but in one shot you can see Bruce Willis is holding a gun. Tracy Morgan disappeared quickly after the scene but Bruce Willis stood in the car and walked around a bit.

Many of the residents who were standing round watching were also complaining that they could not get to their homes and parking was very difficult. Parking is crazy here, one side or the other, and only on certain days! I'll go see the movie if for no other reason that I want to see the scene I saw being filmed.

None of us knew why they filmed the cars going backwards... only the truck was going forwards.
