With some friends from the containers.
I've been living in the DTU "containers" in Lyngby, about 20 min. from central Copenhagen, for almost 3 weeks now. They are storage units turned into international student housing -- not the nicest place but certainly livable. Its also right across the street from the building I am working in, so super convenient, although I have not been managing to get to work any earlier than I was when I had a 45 min. commute. Go figure.

Its been really nice living here because it gave me the opportunity to meet international students outside of the department I'm working in. Most of the students I have met are exchange students who have been here since January and are staying until the end of June. In my container I live with two Polish guys, two Indian guys, one Lithuanian guy and one Brazilian girl. I think we have a really nice group, as everyone is very friendly!

My first weekend staying here I went out with some of the other students in my building. Last weekend on Friday night I went out with Lars and some of his friends after Friday bar. (Friday bar is this deal on Fridays where the department has a little mini bar deal and you can buy beers and hang out.) We went to an irish pub and then to a salsa club. Some guy tried to teach me how to salsa. I'm terrible! On Saturday afternoon I went shopping in Vesterbro, which used to be the Red Light District in Copenhagen, but now its primarily lots of little shops. I got some really cute new jeans and a tank top dress in this tiny store that was just full of piles of clothing and accessories. On Saturday night I went over to a friends for dinner and then went to a small party thrown by some students they knew. On Sunday I went sight seeing in Copenhagen with a friend (those are the pictures from the my last blog entry). It was nice because he really knew his way around, so it was like I had my own personal tour guide 😊

During the week this past week I mostly just chilled out with the people in my building. I went for a bike ride around a lake in Lyngby with a friend and did a little biking around on my own, as the weather was reasonable most of the week. Oh, and I gave the two polish guys in my building hair cuts. One of them cut his own hair into a very crooked short mohawk, which I attempted to straighten out.

Last night some of my container-mates cooked up a really big dinner and had a bunch of people over to our container. The food was really good! Afterwards, we went out to a club called Kulour Bar. Loud music, lots of lights and waaay too much fake smoke. I had fun though! Not sure what I'm doing the rest of today, but tomorrow there's a department BBQ that I'll certainly go to. That's it for now - Peace!

Took this while I was waiting for the bus to go home from Norreport station. As you can see, bars stay open really late and it gets light out really early!

This is apparently how the polish brush their teeth.

Free ketchup!

So there was a free ketchup stand at the train station, so everyone on the night bus going home from the bars had a gazillion bottles of ketchup. Quite the odd sight..
