Random - Traditional dress
This bloke was walking up in front of us on the way to the train Probaly repeating myself but here goes...
We arrived in the outskirts of the small skiing town of Davos which looked deserted. I climbed 5 flights of stairs to small flights advise Richard & Lisa that our hotel was in fact at the top. They decided to walk around the block but that was taking too long so they took the next lot of stairs that only had 3 flights. We arrived at reception to be told there were no lifts and we were on the lop level - 3 more flights of stairs ha ha.
The room was comfortable and so we dropped our bags and as it was now 7.30pm and the hotel meal prices not less than Euro 25, we decided to scour for tea. Well nothing was open as most business were closed due to it being summer although it was about 3 degree!! We have practically lived in the tracksuit and winter clothes we brought from our Aussie winter to what we thought was going to be European summer......... Never the less we finally found 2 supermarkets, Richard was happy to buy some beers, a bottle of Wolfblass Cab/Sav but was dismayed when all we
could buy was pre made salad......... not his favourite fare!! ha ha.
Next day we caught the bus to the local lake and got off way too early so walked around the lake for about an hour until we took a track through the forest where Lisa and Richard were advising me on how to fend off bears. We reached a petrol station and cafe so caught the bus back into Davos town centre and happened upon a finicular train....... again, Lisa doesnt particularly enjoy this mode of transport! Me neither truth be told! At the top we walked a further 10 min up the mountain where we sat in awe of the snow capped
mountains. We ordered traditional Swiss Rossti, which was pretty tasteless really, and hot drinks. Back down the mountain to look for tea..................... nothing open so went into the Beergarten - Sherridan hotel. Richard and I had roast meat loaf & potato and that is all you got!! 1 piece of meatloaf that tasted like sausage, Lisa had pasta that she enjoyed but didnt share.
Next morning off early in search of interesting things, we were on our way to Austria via St Moritz.
Now I had high expectations of St Moritz but once again a skiing town so relatively quiet. We left our bags in train station lockers and wandered into the town which was 10 min walk. We didnt fnd anything open until the top square where we stopped at one of the umbrella clad decks outside of a cafe which had beautiful views once again. Richard & I ordered a Hot Chocolate with cheers to Cassi.
Back on the train where we headed for Innsbruck, by tnow I had no expectaions of excitement or activity, another skiing town!
