Tuesday, May 19th

We woke up late and after breakfast walked to the Petronas Towers to get tickets to visit the Skybridge on the 42nd floor. The earliest available time was 6pm so we got the tickets and went to walk in the KLCC park nearby.

We're kinda in limbo right now, waiting for our camera's dive case to arrive. Apparently it's waiting to clear customs and we should have it in a day or two. Luckily there's still a few things to see around KL so we wont get bored.

After lunch we went to watch another movie, Push. To Talita's delight, we're going to movies more often here than back home. After the movie we discovered an indoor amusement park with a roller-coaster, various rides and cotton candy. We had a blast! The "Supersonic Odyssey" (the roller-coaster) was first. It was quite a ride! This was followed by the "Spinning Orbit" which took us high into the air and spun us around horizontally. Then it was time for the "Space Attack". This ride spun us in huge vertical loops, both forwards and backwards. It was insane-o! With white knuckles and sweaty palm we got off that crazy machine and decided that our bodies hadn't had enough punishment yet, so we tried to give each other whiplash in the bumper cars. Awesome! After this smash session Ferdi went back on the roller-coaster. Talita sat that one out. Her stomach had had enough. Dizzy from the adrenaline rush, throats raw from screaming and laughing so much, we had some cotton-candy. It must've been 20 years since Ferdi had some and it was as good as he had hoped.

We had abandoned the Petronas Tower visit for today, opting to rather enjoy the amusement park. The tickets are free so we'll just go back on another day.

We walked around the mall, just browsing. We found a few hobby shops with awesome toys, remote control choppers, cars, you name it. Luckily our bags are full, cause this could've caused some problems.

Finally our legs decided that they'd had enough and we went home, stopping for some fruits for dinner. We're loving the Indian food waaaay too much. If we don't watch our weight, very soon none of you'll recognize us.

Today's highlights:
1. Enjoying another movie.
2. The amusement park inside the mall.

Wednesday, May

20th
We woke early but then decided to stay in bed. We fell back asleep and woke a couple of hours later. After breakfast we went walking around a mall hunting for boots for Talita and a down jacket for Ferdi. We're thinking it's probably cheaper to buy here than in New Zealand.

We didn't find anything we liked in the clothing and boots department, but we did buy a small radio control helicopter and a beautiful, small, leather bound Bible. We only brought the New Testament with us because of it's size, but we've wanted to have the complete Bible. Now we have one and it's gorgeous. Ferdi also stumbled upon a musical instrument shop. Drawn to the guitars, he sadly browsed around. It just wouldn't be practical to buy a guitar here, but oh, the temptation. Eventually though, practicality won and we left the beautiful instruments behind.

The little chopper turned out to be great fun, though a little hard to control. Well, they say practice makes perfect. While playing around with the chopper we got the call that our camera's dive case had arrived. We were delighted and after a late lunch we went to pick it up. We're sooo chuffed!

We found a Hair Academy where Talita could have her hair trimmed by a student for next-to-nothing. She's been wanting to get rid of those dead tips for a while and since it's not a serious haircut she decided that a student could use her as a guinea pig. For the first time on the trip it wasn't Ferdi sitting in the hair salon. After a serious wash and combing session (which Talita absolutely loved, especially since it took more than an hour) they started trimming. Talita explained what she wanted as best she could, then sat back and hoped for the best. Luckily the guy spoke good English and was pretty good at cutting hair too. More than two hours later, with Talita all cut, blow-dried, and pretty, we went home. What a fun day this turned out to be!

Although... Ferdi had started to get these weird and extremely itchy red welts on his body today. It's not mosquito bites. It's not good.

Today's highlights:
1. Finding the full Bible.
2. Buying the chopper.
3. The dive case finally arriving.
4. Getting Talita's hair cut.

You can taste lunch again

We woke early to get to the Petronas towers before the crowds. We walked in, turned around and walked straight out again, abandoning the visit when we saw the hundred people already queuing up. The building's nice, but it's not that nice. We were told that the view from the Menara tower we've already visited is much better anyway. At least we got some early morning exercise.

With our day suddenly empty of activities we went back to the mall. This trip is all about firsts, and us spending so much time in malls is definitely a first. Usually Ferdi treats malls like war skirmishes; quickly in, get what you need, quickly out again. However, we've come to believe that the best motto on a trip like this is:"Go when the going is good!" This applies to everything from going to the toilet every time the bus stops, to going to the movies. You never know when next you'll get the chance. Talking about movies... we did it again. We watched "Night at the Museum 2", a silly comedy we both enjoyed. The caramel flavoured popcorn was awesome too!

Shortly after we got home it started to rain, so the rest of the afternoon was spent trying to pack the tons of stuff we've acquired into our backpacks. Good thing we're gonna mail the stuff to NZ from Borneo. These packs are now way to heavy for normal use.

Eventually everything was in and we spent a while reading before our last dinner at the Curry House.

Today's highlights:
1. Another movie, this time with caramel popcorn.
2. Actually getting everything into our backpacks.
3. A great last dinner at the Curry House.
