Today was Good Friday, and also the beginning of Spring Break. After finishing two midterms (of course I had two on the last day of classes), I relaxed a little bit before getting ready to go to the Stations of the Cross. The Pope goes through the 14 stations at the Colosseum and for this night, all of the Imperial Forums and Palatine hills and the Colosseum were really well lit. I wasn't exactly sure where the pope would be speaking (turns out it was by the Temple of Venus and Rome) but I followed the steady flow of Italians pushing their way through the crowd. Unfortunately only the names of the stations were in English, but it would have been too long to translate the whole thing in other languages since it took over an hour just to do it in Italian. One thing that was kinda weird was that they had candles arranged in the shape of a cross so at first it looked like there was a cross on fire. The service was nice and I had a pretty good view of the pope, although many people stood in front of me every time the space cleared so I could finally see. It was nice to be there even though I couldn't really understand and after that I got cool night shots of the Colosseum!
