Today I decided that I was going to go to the Vatican Museums, since on the last Sunday of every month, they are free to enter. Jordan was going to come to so we decided to head out at 7:30 for the Vatican. That turned out to leaving at 8 and we didn't get to the Museum until 9 cause we stopped for a cappuccino and a cornetto along the way. That was a poor call on our part since the line probably had at least 5,000 people in front of us waiting to get in. It was suppose to rain in the evening but of course it decided to shower a little bit as we waited in line for an hour and a half. The gypsies came out in full force, trying to sell umbrellas to the people waiting in line. We decided not to get one since the rain would probably stop soon and 5 euros could be better spent some other way. After warding off "umbrelli" gypsies, passing beggars lying on the sidewalk, and getting tons of fliers for restaurant specials, I finally made it into the museum. I saw tons of statues I didn't remember seeing the last time, but really mainly wanted to go into the Sistine Chapel again. However, different from the last time I was there three years ago, they made the path to the Chapel a lot longer, forcing people to walk through this modern religious art exhibit, with might I say really dreadful abstract pieces. Finally making it to the Sistine Chapel, I could not believe how many people were taking pictures, with the flash on! They would do it right in front of the museum guards and right after announcements in over five languages said to not take pictures. I was so mad that people would keep the flash on since it ruins the art! But that still could not dampen the beautiful paintings by Michelangelo.

After leaving the museum, I walked back to the good ol' 870 bus stop and waited for over 45 minutes for the bus to come. I'm pretty sure to get to where I live, I have the worst bus in Rome. It is the smallest bus since it has to go through tight corners and it also runs infrequently, with it coming every 30 minutes being on a good day. That being said there have been days where there will be two 870s running back-to-back so if you are not at the stop within five minutes of missing the first one, you will never get on the bus. And it is always packed to the max. I mean to the point where people are being held up by the sheer volume of people packed on the bus, and the doors cannot open and close properly because people are in the way. Anyway... I finally got back to my apartment at 2... Yay for the Roman bus system.
