OWSI Certificates
Russell our Course Director presenting our certificates Not a lot has happened since New Year I hae mainly been studying and getting on the boats everyday to get as much experience as I can dealing with divers, helping on course's and generally brushing up all my knowledge in the water and out.
My Mum and Dad popped out here for a few days from 23rd until the 30th Jan this was great to see them as I had not seen any family since last year in K.L
They took the time to see Pattaya during the day actually seeing more than I have seen in my 5 months here apparently there are some nice bits to see, leaving me on my only night off from working hard at the IDC to show them the nightlife of Pattaya. It was very strange going into a strip club with your Mum and Dad trust me.
So what was the IDC all about apart from teaching us how to teach in the way PADI has designed, well it was a chance to see how we were in the water skills wise, learn about the business of diving, law, teaching children and all manner of things related to a
career in the dive industry.
A worthwhile course which was extremely enjoyable with to be honest very few low points.
The two days and one night of the IE were extremely nerve racking and tense.....The first night was standard exams and dive theory exams. All passed so on to day two which was firstly demonstrating five Open Water Skills and then teaching and demonstrating a confined water skill, passing that it was moving on to the teaching in a classroom part.
Well that was day one out of the way and day two turned out like this Open Water skills x2 both passed rescue assesment passed scores like this.....
Classroom 5.0
Confined skill 5.0
Open Water Skill 4.75 and 5.0
Whoo Hooo
Well fifteen days of presentations, lectures, selling and some more selling it was time to toast the success of becoming OWSI.
PJ has very kindly updated his site and I have a little section to myself
Mermaids Site Thats Open Water Scuba Instructors for everyone, what a great feeling.
