This was on the walk home behind the gates they use to close everything off. I quite liked it though. This week has been quite a bit busier then the past. Teaching practice started so we were often at school until 20:00-I'm trying to get used to the 24 hour clock. Lesson planning also has taken up time, but I did manage to still go and see some things. Friday night after class, of which I still need to take pictures, it was raining, so our trip to the park was canceled. Instead we went to a bar right outside the recoleta cemetery. The bar was a normal sports bar that was geared towards the latin american football. At this point we saw another dreaded mullet and I did get a picture, but not with my camera. At some point I'll put one up on here though. On their menu they listed all of the whiskeys and had an imported section and a national section, which included one whiskey simply titled national. I tried that and it was pretty good. Drinks aren't too bad and they make mixed drinks pretty strong.
Friday night, in honor of carnival, we went to a Brazilian dance club. The club didn't open until 1:30 so we met at Bonnie's apartment before heading over there. I

This where we met before going to the restaurant. These cranes are all down the river in puerto madero. walked and realized that they have an open container policy in B.A. which many people take advantage of. My walk was along the larger street las heras so cops were around every block or so and weren't stopping any of the people drinking. The Brazilian place was entirely line dancing. There ended up being 4 of us there because the other cab got lost and went to another bar. In the bar there was the bottom floor, which was entirely people doing these line dances. Of course we just got in line and tried to figure them all out as we went and eventually got some of them. There was a stage were the bars own dancers would display all of the dances with some extras thrown in. After all the walking and dancing my legs were pretty tired, so I left early again at 4:00.
On the walk home there are always homeless people sleeping. Often they have a small mattress tucked into one of the many entryways the shops create. I've never been bothered by any of them, but it's still an odd sight. There's a church by my apartment which has wide steps and every night I've
Zona Portuaria
All of those building in the back are Zona Poruaria. Also the Puente de la mujer which is the famous bridge across the river. walked past it they are filled. The only people who bother you are the ones handing out fliers for call girls; these guys are around all day but multiply at night.
Yesterday's free time was spent wandering a little bit again. I went to a comic shop I found last weekend and bought the sequel to the Dark Knight Returns. I talked to the guy a little bit about it because he was quite concerned that I was buying the sequel.
Some of my classmates were meeting in puerto madero for dinner at a meat buffet. I walked over there to join them. The place was massive and for 63 pesos a piece we got the buffet a drink, which turned out to be my own pitcher of coke, and a dessert. Tom's girlfriend, who is Argentine, was supposed to come with us but refused because we were going at 7:00 which is much too early.
The meat was setup behind a short wall with the cooks behind it. We'd walk up to it and point to different things. Usually we had no idea what something was though something like the chicken was obvious. Tom explained some of the stuff
Puente de la mujer
A little closer view to us. There were intestines and blood sausage, but also very good ribs and another part which we never figured out where it was from. I didn't care so much because it was good. The meat wasn't seasoned though, just cooked, and stilled was good. The rain picked up while we ate and the place started to leak in a couple of areas. The deserts were pretty good too. I got a chocolate volcano which was covered in a strawberry sauce and filled with a thick chocolate sauce. Most of the rest of the table went with the dulce de leche. I have some pictures from the walk home of some graffiti I saw up on the graffiti blog, I was farther south so I ran into more murals. Anyway, I'll probably put up another one in a week if not before.
