Isotta's Birthday!Isotta's Birthday!Isotta's Birthday!

It is me, Isotta, Chelsea, and Kellyn.
Today, I had Italian class at three thirty, but I decided I wanted to walk around Rome for a little while as well. Al and I walked down the main road by the center, Via Vittorio Emanuale. We came to this small piazza where there was a church inside. You can’t tell from the picture of the outside of the church, but inside, it was adorned with gold and colorful marble. It was beautiful. There was an area inside the church as well that had hanging candle holders to commemorate a priest that was buried there, I believe. Then I went to one of my favorite pizza places along that road, VIP-Very Italian Pizza. Al and I ate it on the steps outside of the church since it was a nice day. After classes, my friends from Penn State, who are in a study abroad program in Florence, came up to visit. We went to the Trevi fountain, which is so nice at night, when there are barely any tourists. Then, we walked around until we found a nice restaurant that had reasonable prices. Our waiter was very friendly. Since it was Al, Christie, Christine, Bianca and I, the waiter came up to Al and asked him what his secret was and was joking around about how they were the same size, so maybe he could use it as well. Also at the end of the dinner, he comes up to me and says that I must be Italian. I told him I was, and then he asked if I was from the Benevento/ Naples region, and he made a motion to indicate because of my freckles. I was surprised at how he could correctly guess what part of Italy some of my family was from. I thought that was so interesting.

After I got back, I got ready to go to a discotecca since it was Isotta’s twenty-first birthday. The place was called, Fish N' Chips. We had to take a taxi there since Izzo is not allowed to drive us according to the study abroad program rules. Along the way, my roommates and I had a nice conversation with the driver that was in half-Italian/ half-English. It was nice to get the chance to practice talking. When we got there, I had even more chances to brush up on my Italian since only a few of Isotta’s friends spoke English. It was a lot of fun. The style of the discotecca is different from American ones, and I was surprised to see how much American music they played. Today was a lot of fun, and it was nice to get to go out with old friends and make new ones in the same night.

Viva Bene, Spesso L'Amore, Di Risata Molto
Laura, I am so happy for you that you were able from your hard work to study in Rome, Italy, and how great to get to go with Alfred and even meet up with your friends from Penn too. It's my hearts desire to always see you happy and healthy. The waiter guessed right, outside Near Benevento, Castel Vetere, not Naples, your freckles are cute by the way! I remember when we all went to the fountain and tossed our coins in and made are wishes, and the gypsies were trying to give us roses, and take photos, basta! I was so thrilled when Tarzanna let me lead the tour with the umbrella, lol. I remember thinking she couldn't take it anymore when earlier I saw an umbrella like hers in the garbage, I thought she ditched us. She needed a break she went to the back of the line, haha God Bless you and keep you healthy, happy and safe always.
