Our friend in Rome, Mary, had a going away party today. She is going to Austraila for six months and invited us to her house for the farewell. The only thing was, she told us we had to wear a mask. So that was interesting. We searched for a store to buy masks, and finally found one in a piazza behind Castel Sant’Angelo. There was some masks in the store that cost over 170 euros! But they were very nice. I got a cat mask, and Al got a silver and black one. I had a break between then and the party so I made my first dinner here, yummy. Although I wish I didn’t because Mary’s grandma cooked handmade pasta and this fried dough with powder sugar that was light and airy and delicioso! The party was fun. I talked to a lot of Mary’s Italian friends. I was surprised to see how many of them spoke English so well. So it was nice to become friends with Italians even if I didn’t get to speak to them in Italian since they all knew English so much better than I knew Italian.
