THANK GOD FOR CROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my poor poor feet have blisters all over them, and i thought i might have to cancell the trek, but i thought dig deep Karen, dont give in, go find a foot solution - so i was limping/hobbling around town looking for some sort of padding or gauze or stuff - when hey presto - there they were !!!!!
sky blue crocks - oh my god how good did they feel ......... so i think i'm saved
ANYWAY !!!! .................... today i went to what i thought was going to be a craft market but turned out to be a series of factory outlets spread out over a mile or so, my driver wasa lovely round thai lady called ping pong ! i dont know if it ahas anyting to do with a past profession but she was a laugh . so i bought stuff i prob shouldnt have as it was at least double the price i should have paid , but its the 1st time ive been a tad silly so hey ho , never mind !!!
then i went to a local wat (temple) and a thai tuk tuk man
said he'd show me around 4 or 5 of the main temples for an amazingly good price so i made hi promise he wasnt going to take me to any other shops and he was true to his word and a really good guide !!
then i read in hte lonely planet about quirky things to do in Chiang mai - and one was "monk chat " basicly it does what it says on the tin ............. you go to a certain temple and sit and talk to a monk !
the idea is that they learn english and you learn abit about budism and how they live .... well obviously it woulnt be right to miss sucha n opportnity so off i trugged ..... and after 40 mins of walking (wihtout getting lost i may add) i spied a sign saying Monk chat this way ... and i spent the next hour talking away
to about 4 of them .... so sweet . We talked about lots of things including what they eat, how long they have to chant and meditate - as well as important stuff like my sore feet and the beauty of my nail
art and why its not polite for a man to ask a lady how she is 😊
as i was going they asked how i was going to get back to my guest house - i said i'd get a tuk tuk they told me not to get one of those but get a taxi instead as the tuk tuk men outsid the temple ripoff farangs (foreigners !!!!) how sweet was that ........... so i took their advise and got a taxi wich was cheaper
then i had something to eat and met up wiht a girl from Holland (although i kept on asking her about Denmark until she informed me she had no idea if it snowed in Denmark .... as she was for Holland !!!) and a rather gorgious ozzie guy - and we decided to go to the local night market togehter - a good tiem was had and i'm off to bed now to get ready for the trek it mornin !!!
night night everyone - keep warm xxxxxxxxxxx
