I'm getting so excited to finally start off the semester! Its been nice spending time with Támara, but I'm ready to be done living out of a suitcase and actually have a place I can call "home" for the next few months. I've definitely enjoyed her friends and family as well, but it'll be nice to not have to hang around and just pass time anymore.

Not much has happened since Saturday, although I did have another interesting restaurant experience yesterday. Támara and her family took me to their favorite place, La Casa Vía, and we shared a bunch of different tapas...I can honestly say I don't remember any of their names or what was in them! The only thing I really enjoyed was the dessert...haha. I don't really know what that was either but it was something with chocolate and some sort of Japanese fruit that looked like a raspberry but was orange in color, and tasted like cherry....??? I am SO CONFUSED by this food! The main course dishes weren't too bad...but the first appetizer brought out was definitely a shock....it looked like a huge glass of whipped cream or something when the server brought it out, but when I tried it it most definitely was not! It actually turned out to be fish....blended and then whipped...I was definitely not a fan, but they kept bragging about how good it was and how popular it is over there, so I sucked it up and ate it anyways! Along with that, they brought out deep fried vegetables, some random type of meat (who knows what animal it consisted of), and something else that I think was some sort of Italian cheese maybe?? Oh well, it was an experience at least! haha

On the bright side, Támara and I successfully managed to cook some good tasting Spanish desserts this afternoon! It was a great lunch....

I'm also starting to feel a lot more comfortable with the language here, which makes things a lot easier. I feel like I don't need to ask people to repeat things as often anymore, and speaking a foreign language feels a lot more natural than it did the first day I got here...its crazy how hearing a language for a week straight can help you out! I'm also starting to feel more accustomed to eating dinner later at night. Last night we ate at 8:30, and it actually felt kind of early. Eating a family dinner at 10 at night is almost normal here...especially when your family sleeps in until noon, eats breakfast a few minutes later, goes out for lunch at 2, and then you end up eating several different courses there until its well past 4. Time just never seems to be an issue here...I could definitely get used to this laid back lifestyle 😊

I feel like I've been slacking on the whole picture taking thing since I got here, mainly because all the people I've hung out with are already from here, so I feel kind of strange taking pictures while they're just trying to live their everyday life and all...but once I get to Malaga. I plan to change that, especially since I'll be with some Americans who are just as excited about seeing things there as I am!

I love and miss you all! Buenas noches!

hi
Oh my, a fish shake and raw seafood. Sounds like diet food to me. Your grandma Hulst read your blog here today. I told her to come periodically and get caught up with your life. She was a little concerned with you hanging out by bars and unsafe neighborhoods!!! Take lots of pics and stay safe.........Mary
