After a 3 hour flight to Miami and a 7 1/2 hour flight to Spain, I landed in Madrid at 8:30 yesterday morning. The airport was insanely huge and I had to take the underground metro just to get to the hall where I could pick up my luggage! After I got out of the gate, I got a little nervous because there was no exit clearly marked and I really didnt feel like attempting to use spanish since I was pretty sleep deprived, but then Tamara found me so I was extremely relieved 😊 Her family is really nice, and theyre letting me stay with them until I have to head to Malaga for school next week Wednesday. I spent the day with her at school, and I also proceeded to have many epic fails and fall asleep in every single one of her classes, haha. The school was way different than I expected...its extremely laid back and way less professional than I would expect a private school to be. Half the time the students are in class, the teachers are just wandering the halls randomly and socializing with other teachers, and they get to the classroom whenever its convenient for them. its the same thing in the offices, the workers all just hang out and get stuff done whenever they feel like it...they even have a spot in the garage under the school where groups of teachers stand around and smoke with each other, while the students wait in the hallway until they feel like coming back. But I guess thats just their culture, because Spanish people seem to have an "I don´t care" attitude about everything. They do whatever they want and worry about the important stuff later, and their response to everything is "No pasa nada." Fortunately, this will probably work in my favor when school starts 😊

After I almost killed myself by walking across the sidewalk where a car was flying by (apparently this is normal), we drove back home.....and oh my goodness do Spanish people drive CRAZY! Tailgating is totally normal and they swerve in and out of roundabouts as if theres no other cars around. Theres winding roads everywhere and random speedbumps wherever the speed limit is 40.

So far Im working on getting used to speaking and processing things in Spanish, and its going a lot better today than it did yesterday. Tomorrow Im probably going to school with Tamara again, and then this weekend her family is taking me to Madrid and I will also get to see some of my old Spanish friends who I havent seen in forever, so Im very excited! 😊
