Hey guys Today was the first day where I was able to choose everything I did! The first day that nothing was planned for me. Before I talk about today though, last night…
A few of us went to a bar just outside of our school. I guess it’s the bar the students hang out at. Something to note- about 90% of the students at the school are girls.. For this reason there were a few Spaniard guys hanging at the bar with the bartender. They were goofy. I didn’t talk to them, but they were definitely willing to buy drinks for the girls there! I just hung out with a friend and had my first legal glass of alcohol! I had wine. Was good, and cheap compared to the US. 2 euro for a glass… where I work back at home I think it’s at least $5…
After we finished our drinks, a friend and I walked around the town a bit looking for another place to hang out at. We didn’t really go anywhere, but saw one of the guys who works at our school hanging out in a bar. We waved…and kept walking. Haha. Yea, last night was
uneventful. I took a bus back to my house at 2am hoping that another person from my school would be on it, someone that would be heading back home near where I lived, but of course..no. There is no one from the school that lives near me, so I after the bus dropped me off, I walked by myself to my house.. I don’t plan on doing that again. Nothing happened or anything, but it’s scary walking alone at night, wherever you are. I don’t even do that while I’m at home in the US, let alone another country that I have only been in for three days! Anywho…I think most of my fun in the city from now on will be happening during the day I like being back home at night!
Today I took a bus to go meet my friend who lives about as far away from the main part of the city as you can be-she’s at the last bus stop on the route! The area is called Polígono and it’s a newer part of Toledo. There is a ton of construction going on there right now, and my friend’s host mom said that
My room
Funny how some things just don't change.. even when I'm 4,000 miles away (My room WILL always be a mess) part of the town is expected to triple in the next year or so.. Crazy!
So my friend and I went to the mall. I needed a few random things. The mall is just like any other mall. Definitely newer, but nothing out of the ordinary. I had McD’s while I was there, which is also the same..except the fries are less salty haha. Oh, and I need to figure out the word for lemonade in Spanish. I had been taught limonada… but the guys behind the counter didn’t understand me, still didn’t when I tried saying limón, and decided to give me an everything McFlurry!?!? No idea.. For those of you who don’t know what a mcflurry is (cough..grandparents..cough) its like a milkshake, and instead of putting one ingredient in…which is normal..the workers put all the candies they had in it..m&m’s, heath bar, butterfinger… but no oreo now that I think about it…It was good tho, I guess! : haha
Tonight for dinner, my host mom took two whole fish out the oven, then told her husband to cut off the head. I felt bad because I could not hold back my funny faces. She giggled and took
my FISH ( a whole fish) and cut it up for me…after her husband cut it’s head off(which still had eyes). She peeled off the skin then separated the meat from the spine and bones and stuff… It was really good! But I get so sick of eating so slowly, hoping I don’t eat a fish bone and DIE. Gah… My host parents left before I was finished tonight because my host mom’s mom (my host grandma?) is very sick and in the hospital…I hope everything is okay…
But before they left, they showed me how to make coffee I am very excited about that.
Don’t know what I will do tomorrow.. possibly check out the park right by our house? As long as it’s nice out. It was great weather today. The sun was shining so brightly! It was wonderful…
PS. If you go to Toledo, be ready for a workout. I am going to have thighs of steel when I come back…From the hills.

Hey deary, well I read all of your blogs now! It's sounds like tons of fun, and reminds me of being in Austria--everything is similar but just enough different to make you feel sort of weird. We never had whole fish though...strange. I'm glad things are going well and that you got your luggage and everything. Well...i've got nothing, we just talked an hour ago, so i'm going to go finish unpacking. love ya!
