G'day! so after a few days camping we arrived back to the Barrett household! it was lovely to get back to a nice comfy bed and get to wash our clothes...again! got all our xmas shopping done and then collected mick and lorna from the airport on xmas eve(they flew in from perth). Christmas day was great...very different from home! we got up at 6am ( my cousins Emily (9) and Conor (6) ) werent allowed go down stairs until the BIG KIDS (me, al, lorna & mick) got up - so it was a very early start! We got a lovely present from Elaine and Tam ( my aunty & favourite Scottish uncle!) - got a voucher to climb the Harbour Bridge. Myself & Lorna then headed for a visit to my great Aunty Marie's house.it was about 11am but when we were offered a vodka we said what the hell its xmas day.... there was a whole glass of vodka with a touch of lemonade so when we came back to the lads we were very merry ,singing all the xmas songs we knew!! before dinner the four of us headed down to Maroubra Beach for a quick dip..madness!
Our xmas dinner was the whole works...turkey, ham, the lot..Elaine & Mandy are great cooks! we chilled out in the pool for the rest of the day and that evening there was a few of Elaine & Tams friends that came around and Emily and her mates put on a dance show for us.....absolutely hilarious....see photos! the finale was Alen & Lorna playing the pipes...again see photos! The next few days were just relaxing, nights out in Bondi Junction and the City. One of the days the BIG KIDS took the small kids to Luna Park - a family theme park. As soon as we got in the kids were pestering us to go on this ride at the entrance so we just went along with it, but when we got in this small room..it was shaped like a circle and we didnt know what was going on ...the room start spinning so fast that we were stuck to the wall with the gravity and then the floor dropped from underneath us..Alen had a freak attack..he start screaming and banging his hands off the wall.. i was pissing myself laughing until i realised he was actually green!! he laughs about
it now i swear!!
the next big event was new years eve and we had our own personal organiser..Vinny ( Al's best mate from Leixlip) Vinny researched the best places to go with all the viewing points for the Harbour Bridge. We finally agreed to go to Balmain Park and also agreed that we'd have to be there nice and early. so 6am on new years eve, we were up and out the door..at 8am we arrived at Balmain Park.. with 120 cans of VB,a 2litre bottle of vodka, ham&cheese sambos and a few packets of crisps we were set for the day..of course we were the first ones there!! it didnt matter though we had a great spot and messed around for the day, playing cards etc... at about 6pm we all had hangovers so took it in turns to go for little cat naps!! by 9pm we were all back in full swing and the first fireworks display went off...it was brill. then at midnight the real fireworks went off and it was absoultly magical....totally unbelievable and definitly worth a 18 hour wait!!
We got home then at 4am so we were wrecked on new years day...
but it was well worth it, we had a ball!
A few days later Alens mam and dad arrived and we done all the touristy things...tour of the operah house, lunch by the harbour, visit to darling harbour, La perouse.... and then on the Wednesday it was the big day....the harbour bridge climb...
All geared up myself and al headed off... after all the prep and trial runs we were finally on the walk out to the bridge, after a steep climb up 3 flights of ladders (where your head comes up between two lanes of traffic!) we were finally on the Arch... were walking up and the scenery is lovely and the history is great, until our instructor Corey says "OK GUYS WE GOTTA GET DOWN...WE'VE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO EVACUATE THE BRIDGE" I start laughing thinking ye right....until Corey was like ok the lightening storm is coming , we need to get down. I was bricking it and belted it down!!! we got back to the start of the bridge where we had to wait an hour to see if we could go back up but unfortuantly the storm was too bad so we re-booked and are
doing it again next week!
Alens mam and dad left today so were a bit sad but looking forward to my mam. dad and grandad coming over Saturday week.... we just cant get away from them ! only joking! were heading off to Palm Beach tomorow ( where home and away is filmed) so hopefully we get to see some Aussie Celebs... will keep you updated!!
